My Good Friend is struggling with financials as a student

Hi, I'm Simon and I'm seeking financial assistance for a dear friend of mine, Jimmy.

We've been great friends since high school, and we are still keeping close to this day. However, the high school days has long passed, and we find ourselves living different lives as adults. Of course, like everyone we are challenged with many difficulties in our daily lives and we share in each others company to get us through the day. Lately, its been harder for us friends to watch as he just scrapes by each month, especially after an unforeseen circumstance had happened towards the end of July - he had been burgled and robbed recently.

Jimmy is a second year student at the University of Cape Town (UCT) studying towards a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting. He had to move out of his home to live closer to campus to cover his transportation costs. His parents also had to sell their restaurant business to cover for his tuition and working jobs to fund him as well as raise a daughter/sister much younger than he is. To spend as little on groceries and living costs, he often consumes junk food and quickly cooked solutions and even so he is unable to sustain himself. Since his laptop got stolen by the burglar, it has made it harder for him to work. He aims to work part-time and earn some money to buy another one or help with his living costs but his budget and time does not allow much for now. We are hoping to offer just enough help for the remaining semester at least.
