Thanet's Families in Need
Community Support Service

www.thanetfamiliesinneed.co.uk

We are proud to say this is now our third consecutive winter serving the people of Thanet .

We have donated items from food donations and clothing to baby items, furniture and all essential household items to over 3500 cases in Thanet and supported hundreds of clients in many different situations offering support, advice, useful links budgeting services and so much more.

Our organisation has grown and developed completely from donation of items and the amazing backing and support from so many wonderful people in our community for the better of the whole community in Thanet but we have many costs will still have pay to be able to run our 100% voluntary organisation with the main priority being the rent for our essential base after having to relocate.

We are currently on a marathon fundraiser for as well as the admin costs, the vital relocation of our base for the community and the needs of the people of Thanet.
All this not to mention bills but also the increase in demand more so than we have seen in our 3 winters as the colder weather makes it return and more people in Thanet working or on benefits are in poverty than ever before.

With 1 IN 3 CHILDREN in south Thanet and up to 50% of children in parts of Thanet such Cliftonville West and Margate Central in poverty as figures published this October reveal there is a real need for making sure people in Thanet facing hardship can get the help and much need support we can provide.

Our services over the last 18 - 24 months have grown massively including Thanet's only 24/7 emergency food bank and telephone support service with call back introduced in April 2013 originally with a freephone number we would like to get up and running again.

As well as our self referrers, we are receiving an ever increasing amount of requests direct from outside agencies and other community organisations we have linked which we think is really important for all of us to have as many links as possible to pass onto our clients and with winter in full swing we are dealing with a huge surge in demand and are currently dealing with lots of winter clothing bundles and our winter warmth facebook campaign for bedding, blankets, curtains and anything to help with poor insulation and to maintain warmth is most certainly keeping us on our toes with the Raise a Smile for Christmas 2014 appeal out of the way helping over 280 people alone.

Thanet Community Soup Kitchen

We are also running a fortnightly Community Soup Kitchen with a transportation system collecting people from every corner of Thanet for a hot meal, clothing, company and advice.

All this so far is being NON FUNDED but we need your help.

Why we need to fundraise?

We really need this new opportunity to be able to do the group work and offer the much needed services Thanet is lacking to receive the support that they require.
It would make Thanet Families in Needs food bank for the hungry in Thanet a lot easier to access and of course the support we offer will be much greater with our respite services for parents/carers of children and young adults with learning disabilities or special needs.

We bring the community together sharing use with other community organisations in the community working together where needed.

We also have all other costs to cover to keep the organisation running smoothly such as transportation costs, free phone and internet costs, food for our food parcels when low ect..
