Helping the needy

I want you to stop what you're doing, close your eyes and use your wonderful mind to imagine something.

You are 8 years old again.

You are sitting in the school yard during lunch, watching all the other kids play. They are running, shouting, hopping, skipping and just having fun! You can hear laughter and giggles all around. You want to join in so badly, you really do. But you can't. Because when you look down you see that one of your legs didn't form properly when you were growing. It's short and misshapen and of no use to you. You sit in an old wheelchair held together by tape and are forced to always watch the fun and games from the outside. Your parents worry everyday about what's going to become of you when you grow up. They know your chances of getting employed are slim and that you'll probably never escape this life of poverty.

This is a reality for 8% of black people of cape town who are living with a disability. But it doesn't have to be like for the children of Cape town South Africa .

Helping the black needy was established in 2010 to provide medical care and rehabilitation to children with physical disabilities. They provide life changing surgeries and rehabilitation services that could change a child's life! The earlier a child receives care, the earlier that child can reach their full potential and be re-integrated into society, allowing them and their families to escape the cycle of poverty often associated with disability. By helping a child to overcome or adapt to their physical disability, we help to improve their quality of life.
