Domestic helpers need our help.

Some foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong are treated like slaves, but they deserve the same rights as every other citizen. This includes having a realistic living environment, prevention from sexual/verbal/physical abuse of any sort, interruption of under-payment, and basic Hong Kong rights. It’s quite disturbing that abuse and rape is a problem for the people who help us daily. These acts of assault and abuse violate their fundamental human rights. It's terrible to see helpers traumatized. After helpers get raped they usually get fired while pregnant. Since helpers come on working visas and are not working they will get sent to jail after 2 weeks. These helpers are now homeless and penniless. Pregnant helpers have been sent to jail before. That is horrifying. Helpers have been seen giving birth in public places like parks.

If magically helpers do not find jobs in 2 weeks they go underground and looking a way to make money. That leaves the door wide open for drug groups, human trafficking, or becoming a sex slave. Other worse things are also possible. Sometimes helpers will sell their child to a trafficker to become a slave and/or sex slave when they get older.

The world isn't that bad though!

Pathfinders is a non profit charity!

Pathfinders is an organization that truly helps out domestic helpers, they sometimes go to court to help helpers become legal, be able to go home, or do DNA tests on the children to find out who the father is!

"PathFinders Limited is an independent, secular and non-partisan humanitarian services organisation with tax-exempt charitable status in Hong Kong. Since our founding in 2008, PathFinders has helped over 4,800 of Hong Kong’s most vulnerable babies, children and migrant women. Over 10% of the children we have served would, but for PathFinders, have been at extreme risk of abuse, neglect, even trafficking."
