Dear Donors,

My name is Fairuz, and I’m reaching out for you to spare a helping hand for my dad and mum.

My parents savings are depleting each day as both of them suffers from heart disease, diabetes, kidney failure as well as among few other illnesses.

They frequented the hospitals for check ups, and also private clinics when they are not feeling well. But this campaign is more for my Dad. We have tried for Government assistance like Comcare, but we were rejected, as they mentioned my dad receives pension $1,100.00 monthly from his civil defence unit and they say its sufficient for them, but what they didn’t know also that they do not collect the amount in full, as whenever they visited the doctors, the fees are deducted from his pension funds. Another reason for the rejection is my sister, who is the sole bread winner of the family, earns about $2,000.00 as childcare teacher, but that is not sufficient for the household use. We have been asking around but to no avail. It is not easy to get assistance in Singapore.

My mum suffers from a weak heart and has a pacemaker implant. She also has diabetes, weak kidneys and lungs. At times she has to use a wheelchair to get to places. She is not strong anymore but she tries to do more than she can. This will cause her to be extremely lethargic that she will lie down on the bed the whole day. Seeing her like this at times, breaks my heart. She has been admitted to the hospital numerous times for infections and pneumonia.

Dad suffers from similar problems as mum, but he has been on waterbag dialysis, for the last 1 year, at home. It happened when he had a serious infection which causes most of his organ to temporarily collapsed. He was in the Intensive Care Unit for 16 days, before he was transferred to the normal ward. He has been on dialysis ever since. He does dialysis every single night, and the process to do it, can be quite tedious. Room has to be clean, free from dust, hands and the surrounding area clean, to eliminate any bacteria that may cause infection to where the tube for dialysis is.

Although the dialysis is heavily subsidise by the government, there is still a portion that we need to pay every month, if not, Dad will not get his supplies for the next month. And that worries me.

Dad have always wanted to work, but his condition and age doesn't permit it. He is 69 this year, and his ability to walk is being hindered by his constant swelling of both legs and getting tired easily. His savings are depleting each day, and his monthly pension is not enough to cover the expenses incurred.

Both of them frequent to the hospitals for checkups, at times, it can be 4 to 5 appointments in a week. They visit the Kidney, Lungs, Heart and Eye doctors. With the visits, I have devoting my time in taking care of them.

I have gone to the extend of quitting my full time job, and surviving as a Grab driver now. It is tough to earn a decent income, yet helping my parents financially.

I hope to be able to use the funds garnered to pay for the medical, dialysis bills, hospital visits, the frequent A&E and clinic visits for mum, while we try to save and possibly sell the house so that we can have enough to pay for the bills.

Thank you for reading my worries. There is as much that I can do, and i sincerely pray and hope that there will be kind souls to help my parents.

We are reaching out to you, kind donors to help us raise as much money as possible so this can help them tied through the difficult period, and I can focus more in saving more money, and finding a more stable job to suppor them in future.

They have been there when I needed them the most. I tried very hard, but it is not good enough. Please help my parents. May God bless who read this, and who offered their kind assistance. I do hope we are able to gather funds by the end of October. It will help them in a long way.

Maybe some day, I am able to do this for others in need to give back to the society.
