COSTS
Relatively high cost of scoliosis treatment because it involves the installation of implant containing several rods, screws, plates and wires, plus it is a type of surgery that is complicated and not all doctors are able to do this surgery.
The cost of treatment in government hospitals is between $ 15,000- $ 20,000 depending on the number of screws to be used. Spinal surgeon will determine the number of screws based on the bent part of the bone and the severity of the bend ,. While in private hospitals, the cost can reach up to $ 22,000 not including the cost of surgery and hospital charges.

Complications if not treated ..
# Damage to the lungs and heart. This could happen if the bone
back bend more than 70 degrees. The ribs will be pressed
lungs and heart, resulting in shortness of breath and rapid patient
tired.

In fact, the heart will also have difficulty pumping blood. In
Under these conditions, patients are more susceptible to lung infections
and pneumonia.

# Back pain. All patients, whether adult or
children at high risk for chronic back pain problems.

If left untreated, the patient may suffer from pain
joints. The spine also have more problems when
patients aged 50 or 60 years.

# Image problem. Usually patients feel inferior, ashamed and less
confident to face other people because their body is not balanced,
high or slanting side.

# Depression. This is among the most feared of psychological problems
physicians. Patients are more prone to depression and
extreme sadness.

SURGICAL RISK
The period of the scoliosis surgery is between 2 and 10 hours depending on the case. Like other surgeries, scoliosis surgery is also exposed to the risk of infection, bleeding and anesthetic complications (anesthetic). In addition, conditions such as the existence of a blood clot in the lungs and spinal cord injury can also occur.
The older the patient, the greater the risk that has to be faced. For an 'adult scoliosis', is likely to have an infection or pneumonia is higher than younger patients.
Even so, the risk of scoliosis surgery is not limited to the risks described above but also the circumstances that might require repeat operations such as:
· Pseudoarthrosis (mergers bone that does not heal like that)
· Crooked not diminished (in the case of the use Harrigton Rod Instrumentation)
· Instrument (screw / plate) broken or loose.
· Infection and / or pain at the bone graft
