Miss Muppet's unexpected eye removal was not only a scary shock, but also a $3,250 vet bill for her mom, Katie, whose life's work bringing art programs to at-risk kids was slashed due to federal budget cuts this year.

Little Muppet had quite the shock this week when her eye started hurting, turned all puffy, and... needed to be removed. As we can see, she'll still be cute as ever, but it's been a scary time for her... and for her wonderful family, who has raised her to be as kind, community-minded, and loving as they are. And while it seems crazy, the cost to have Mup's eye removed was a whopping $3,250, with medications every two hours for quite some time. Muppet will be going to work, and everywhere, with her mom in a laundry basket for awhile...

Her mom, Katie Whitehouse, is the most generous, giving, do-for-others person I have ever known. She has dedicated her life to bringing expression through art to kids who need it most. Unfortunately, funding for such things has been slashed this year, and that has taken a toll. Katie is always working, and always in the service of others (at The Eyrie, for local artists, caring for my own furbabies and others, and continuing to create art programs and experiences for at-risk kids).
