Campaign Story
Dear Friends:
Greetings from Lasse Nielsen. You know me from my early Danish movies like YOU ARE NOT ALONE, and my more recent series of short films like THE KITE. I have been living very modestly for the past 40 years, without a steady income and without any savings.
Last month I was diagnosed with cancer of the throat, which will require hospitalization and 33 chemotherapy and radiation treatments. As I have no savings, and no health insurance, I am appealing to my friends and fans to help with these expenses, which should add up to approx. $10,000.
Family and friends have already helped with $2,000, so I am now appealing for $8,000 to complete my treatments (without treatment my doctors only give me about another year to live.)
Any support will be greatly appreciated – and the first 30 people who send $100 or more will receive either a DVD edition of six of my short films, with English and German subtitles, or a DVD of my Thai feature film, THE STORY OF NET, with English subtitles.

The radiation treatments have taken longer than expected so I still have around 8 treatments to go.I drive about 1 hour 20 minutes to get to the cancer hospital and because we have the rainy season my driver has been forced. . . . .

Every Thursday I have a meeting with the doctor, the other days I am going directly to the radiation treatment. The doctor was positive saying 'It looks fine'. Unfortunately it was lost in. . . . .

Update posted by Arthur Herman at 07:07 amThis is Lasse writing:After 5 times of chemotherapy (in 5 days), the lump on my neck has become smaller and I no longer have pain when I swallow so the horrible chemo has started to work.Now I am ready to start more than 30 radiation treatments in 2 weeks time.
