Incident with my Kubo
On Monday (2 weeks ago) I took my dog to the vet because the tip of his tail was bleeding so I googled it (of course) and found out it could be happy tail. So, I went in on Monday to see what they could do for my pup.
Upon taking Kubo to the vet the first day they agreed with my concern that it was happy tail. From day one they recommend amputation, but I wished to go with a less harsh route. The doctor then recommended some medication, but they did not offer to wrap or pad the tail. I had to ask for them to wrap the tail which they did seemed reluctant to do.
As I was picking up Kubo, they did not give me any medical documentation about Happy tail nor what signs to look for. They just told me to come back in 7 days and we will monitor it. After the first 5 days this bad odor started coming from my pup. I gave him a dry bath (waterless shampoo - it a spray bottle not an actual bath ) thinking the odor was coming from him. Then I noticed he started to sit weird like on his side. He kept coming up to me. The smell got stronger. So, I tried to check the bandage and it was filled with humidity and he would not let me touch his tail.
After talking to the vet on Saturday, 2 days before they wanted me to come back, he said “there was a horrible stench and the tip of his tail has started to die and we need to amputate. the cost for his surgery is 1500.
Since the pandemic I haven’t been able to find income yet. One reason why is because I am a high risk candidates for COVID-19 as well as my dad. I cannot in good faith risk bring COVID-19 to the house during the trying times.
