Helping Jessica

My name is Jessica Minor, and I am currently raising money for a service dog. I have had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was 1, and I have been in a wheelchair since I was 8. Because I am in a wheelchair with limited range of motion, I cannot pick up things from the ground. Also, being independent and living by myself can be difficult at times because of my arthritis.  

 

I have had a couple of service dogs in the past, and they have helped me tremendously. One of my last dogs, Serene, assisted me while I was completing graduate school in Pittsburgh, PA. Because of her, I felt more comfortable living by myself and going to conferences for school. Unfortunately, she passed away suddenly at 5 years old. After graduating, I started looking into getting another service dog.

Service Protection Dogs has already funded money toward my dog but I need to do my part and I need your help.

 

Recently, I got a job as an Assistant Professor in Greenville, SC, and I start teaching college classes in the Fall. Having another service dog will help me to start a new phase of my life with freedom and independence. My service dog will be able to assist me at home, at work, and while traveling for conferences.
