Helping Dreams Become Reality for Miranda

My beautiful daughter Miranda has been accepted to the Central Pennsylvania Youth Baller's 5-Week Summer Ballet Program, one of the top 10 ballet schools in the country. We are a middle class family with strong work ethic and have supported Miranda's passion for dance since she was 4 years old, however, due to catastrophic health issues during the past few years we have reached a point where we can't do this all on our own right now. It is not easy for us to ask for your help, swallowing our pride we are asking you to help this dedicated and talented young woman reach her goal.  We have scraped together $3,000 toward the expenses of this program which are about $6100:

• Tuition, Room & Board $5850
• Supplemental Classes $250 
• Roundtrip Transportation 

We can reduce the tuition cost by $300 if we can get the payment in by April 1st.

About Miranda

Miranda started dance at the age of 4 at a local recital school, even then her passion for dance was apparent. Her time at Sue Sandford School of Dance with Miss Sue is what sparked her passion and inspired her dreams. After a few years she knew she needed more, classical ballet is the form for all dance. So this brought us to American Dance Center studying under Madame Phyllis Latin, one of the great classical ballet teachers of all time.

Studying over the summer is a must for students who are pursuing a dance career. Miranda has dedicated her life to Dance, she has given up so much for her dreams. Dancing is her life above all else. As a teenager Miranda was at dance class, not with her friends doing fun things.  When everyone else was enjoying their summers hanging at the beach, Miranda insisted on being at dance class 6 days week.

This summer youth ballet program also offers fun activities at Hershey Park and The Sports Emporium, but Miranda opted out of those in order to enroll in the supplemental dance classes that will enable her to be in classes 7 days a week throughout the 5-week program. When she returns to upstate NY at the end of the CPYB program, Miranda hopes to attend a 3-week Summer Dance Intensive program at Madame Phyllis Latin's American Dance Center that costs $1750.

If she can come up with the money for those extra three weeks, then she will have completed another year of what has become year-round dance training of 30 plus hours per week in addition to full-time college courses. Miranda is studying for a Business degree in hopes of running her own dance school after she retires from her career as a professional dancer.

In addition to full-time college and 30 hours per week of dance lessons, Miranda is also trying to start a dance class program for girls through our church to raise money for her own education.

About Central Pennsylvania's Youth Ballet Program

Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet's 5-Week Summer Ballet Program provides unparalleled technical training for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students at the nation's preeminent school of classical ballet. Summer students participate in a comprehensive curriculum of 16 or more ballet classes per week that bring together the finest in technique, strengthening and artistry. Course work includes Ballet Technique, and for those who qualify: Pointe, Variations, Partnering, and Modern. Optional supplemental classes, encompassing fitness and other genres of dance, provide the opportunity for dancers to expand their base of knowledge while experiencing other forms of dance.  Here's a short video about the program.

How You Can Help

I have watched my daughter grow into a beautiful dancer and it would break my heart to see her dreams shattered due to finanical challenges.  Miranda needs approximately $3100 in addition to our savings to enable her to attend this 5-week CPYB summer program. Any additional funds raised will be used toward the $1750 she needs to attend the 3-week American Dance Center program.
