Campaign Story
Helping Albino children and disabled children in completing dormitories
st. Francis of Assisi is a school for disabled and albino children in the Arusha city area, Tanzania
MOTIVATION:
The School of St. Francis of Assisi in Arusha city area - Tanzania, is elementary in order to equally accept children with disabilities and a refuge for albino children. The principal and founder of the school are sister Mary Benedicta, who has the qualifications of a specialist teacher for the disabled. Teaching staff also have appropriate pedagogical education for the special teaching of children with physical and mental disabilities (blind, deaf, without body parts).
After Sr. Mary Benedicta finished school in Canada and saw firsthand the poverty and conditions in which children with special needs and albino children live without educational opportunities, she decided to provide children with a “safe and better environment” so they could grow up and learn in a safe environment. This idea of a “safe environment” has grown into a school/home/shelter/orphanage that has been operating in the Arusha city area for 20 years.
AN ISSUE:
The organization currently has 350 children aged 2-15, and the building they use for sleeping is too small for all children - 4-5 children sleep on one bed, and equipping a new dormitory is unfortunately expensive. The existing dormitories are unsustainable in size for 350 children. That is why, 3 years ago, they decided to build a new one, which unfortunately they never finished due to lack of material resources.
In the school of St. Francis, Albino's children are present in very large numbers. 80 of them. Even as children, they are separated from their families because they are endangered. Parents fear for their lives because their body parts are in demand (the environment cripples them and sells body parts in the belief that they are amulets), so if the family wants to protect them they have to give them up. They even do it in secret because they do not want them in their own villages, but condemn them and want to mutilate them. They bring trouble and shame. Such are the beliefs...
Albino children rarely go outside the school walls. Only for a special occasion and with the permission of the state. When they grow up, they still live in fear. I can't move freely everywhere. They are not adults with a sense of freedom, and most of them may not even acquire that feeling. Regardless of everything, they are in the school of St. Francis is safe, enjoys his little paradise, and carelessly washes the dishes. They sing, play, go to school and help each other.
Because we are rich. We have the freedom to move, go out, do what we love, travel, hang out with friends, achieve something. And most important of all, we have the freedom to be with our family.
SOLUTION:
In order to finish what has been started and provide children with sleeping space, USD 20,000 is needed to be invested in the completion of the building (introduction of electricity, water in the toilets, children's beds with mattresses, closets). In the event that this amount is exceeded, the surplus will be used to help Albino children, purchase school supplies and long-term financial investments in the school.
Therefore, if you are able and willing, please support children with special needs who are rejected by their families, because I think no one should be denied something as basic as family, the right to safe life and education - because, we are all under the same skin and we all feel the same pain.
Why this place? School of St. Francis? Because it's all in one. School, orphanage, shelter, rescue of albino children. Children with and without needs. Blind, deaf-mute, handicapped, unloved, rejected, without body parts, life-threatening, and children without any defects ... all together in one place ...
Together.
In a place where one carries the other. A place where they lead each other. Each other's eyes ... each other's ears ... where it doesn't matter what your abilities are. Do you have a body part or not ... can you speak, can you see ... where it doesn't matter what you look like ...
All that matters is that you exist - you - just the way you are ... because here they only look with the heart.
Because only the heart can see well! The way it is often very difficult for me and you, and so simple and so easy for them. That's why this place.
Thank you or Asante Sana as they say here,
Martina on behalf of the school of St. Francis of Assisi

Pomoć albino djeci i djeci s invaliditetom u dovršavanju spavaonica
sv.
Oni donose nevolje i sramotu. Takvog su uvjerenja....
Albino djeca rijetko izlaze izvan školskih zidina.
Franje? Zato što je sve u jednom. Škola, sirotište, utočište, spasilište albino djece. Djeca s potrebama i bez njih. Slijepa, gluhonijema, hedndikepirana, neljubljena, odbačena, bez dijelova tijela, životno ugrožena i djeca bez ikakvih nedostataka... svi skupa na jednom mjestu...
Zajedno. Na mjestu gdje jedni nose druge. Mjesto gdje jedni vode druge.
Eto, zato ovo mjesto.
Hvala Vam ili Asante sana kako ovdje kažu,
Martina u ime škole sv. Franje
