Help Ida Get Better

Ida Clarisse Querubin is a good friend of mine since we were in college. She has one of the most welcoming smiles and pealing laughters that echo around campus. She was a great volleyball player. Her powerful spikes could break walls. She's a wonderful friend, and we, her friends, are grateful for her and her friendship.

Ida was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in January 2018 and since then she's only been taking metformin as maintenance. Eventually, she developed gastroparesis which was a complication brought about by her diabetes. Come August 2018, she was diagnosed with tuberculosis. She initially had medications for 4 months, but after having to lose her job due to her health conditions, she stopped taking medicines for TB. Right now, she hasn't received proper medical attention as she is unable to stand on her own, and she has no means to go for treatments as they live quite far from medical facilities, and they do not have a transportation to help her get there safely.

She is currently staying in Canlubang, Laguna, with her husband and their 5 children. Her husband quit his corporate job to take over their family's business. They do installations of industrial pumps. But due to the pandemic that we are all experiencing now, her husband barely gets clients which forced him to shut down their business, hopefully at least temporarily. While they get little help from their parents, Ida chose to rather spend it for their children, and less priority to manage her illnesses.

It is truly heartbreaking to see her deteriorate slowly, while knowing her willingness to survive. She keeps fighting knowing her kids need her. With their current situation at home, to be able to get the proper medical care would be far more impossible. Ida needs our help.
