Abandoned, spent most of her life in a shelter, and now cancer – Vule has been dealt some pretty lousy cards in life, but she's still ever so loving and happy and FULL OF LIFE! We cannot give up on her.
Sweet, sweet Vule is a 4 year old Husky-mix, who was abandoned at Vucjak Shelter in Serbia as a puppy. A few months back, it was discovered that she has a cancerous tumour on her jaw. Because of the nature of her cancer, on top of surgery to remove the tumour and her lymph nodes, she needs to receive radiotherapy in nearby Slovenia. Her hospital bills are projected to be more than €10.000.
(Cost estimate of Vule's life-saving treatment from the veterinary hospital)
Vule is just one of MORE THAN A THOUSAND abandoned and injured dogs that Vucjak Shelter has selflessly taken in and cared for. Animals are being abandoned outside the shelter on a daily basis. Dejan from Vucjak Shelter has dedicated his life to caring for these lovely creatures – no matter how young, old, or sick. We believe that all of them deserve a chance at a good life.
So far, Vucjak Shelter has only been able to raise a few thousand euros for her initial consultations, scans and tumour removal surgery. They do not have enough to pay for Vule's live-saving radiotherapy. They need your help! As it is, they are struggling daily with other costs, including:
- Feeding the 1000+ animals in the shelter.
- Veterinary fees for all the animals, keeping in mind that most of the animals arriving at the shelter are often sick, injured, not sterilised/neutered, and/or very old.
- Getting ready for the impending harsh winter. The shelter is in the middle of nowhere in Serbia. There are not enough heated shelters for the number of animals they have.
- Upkeep of the shelter – the singular water pipe carrying potable water to the shelter recently broke, for example.
(Vučjak Shelter in Kragujevac, Serbia)
The plan for Vule is to receive treatment, recover fully, and then go to a nice family here in Slovenia.
Her journey is long but you can help!
All donations received will go towards the payment of Vule's veterinary fees and rehabilitation/hospitalisation. Any amount in excess will be donated to Vučjak Shelter.

Bills have been paid, Vule is healthy and home!
Update posted by Yumei Foong at 05:20 pmHi everyone! An update on Vule's condition and the fundraiser.Vule's doctors operated on her tumour and removed it (and half her lower jaw), together with her lymph nodes. Post operation scans showed no visible signs of cancer. As such, it was recommended by her doctors that she does not need. . . . .
Pupdate!
Update posted by Yumei Foong at 08:43 amVule has been able to continue with the first rounds of her radiotherapy treatments thanks to your generous donations! As you can see here, she's doing very well – putting on weight, getting the nutrition she needs, her fur is growing back nice and lush, and she's very very loved
