COVID-19 Helping Platform – HelpFWD.com

HelpFWD (https://helpfwd.com) is a “Hack Covid 19” initiative spawned during the coronavirus outbreak of early 2020. The idea is to provide a modern web application to the public for those to help people that cannot commute for their basic day to day needs such as food supplies, medicine etc.

Our Team

It all began when Stavros posted the basic idea on a developers' FB page. Soon, Nick, George and Panagiotis popped in to form a team eager to contribute to the fight against the Covid pandemic outbreak. This is a true European effort coming from people operating in Belgium, Greece and the Netherlands.

How It Works

The web application is pretty straight forward.

• People in need post help requests.
• Volunteers review, accept and carry out these requests.
• Help requests initially show only the general area the request comes from.
• Only when a Volunteer accepts a help request the contact details are exchanged just between the two. Plus, the request/acceptance exchange is crypto-logged to the platform for extra security.
• Verification is supported by two-factor SMS-based authentication (like fintech apps)
• The app can receive requests via phone (for the elderly and generally for people not having seamless internet access)
• The app operates on a modern technology stack.
