Campaign Story
Hi all!
I have created this page to raise funds for my youngest sister Angelika Serrano as she is currently admitted at National Kidney Institute for almost 7 months now.
Angelika (Gekka) was diagnosed with neurogenic bladder dysfunction last Feb 26, 2020. Neurogenic bladder dysfunction, or neurogenic bladder, refers to urinary bladder problems due to disease or injury of the central nervous system or peripheral nerves involved in the control of urination. While neurogenic bladder can't be cured, necessarily, it can most definitely be managed. Most cases of neurogenic bladder can be managed with medication and intermittent catheterization. The minority of children with the condition need major reconstructive surgery.
She also had a CLOSTRIDIUM DIFFICILE COLITIS (also known as C. diff) is a bacterium that causes diarrhea and colitis (inflammation of the colon).
From February 17, 2020 until now she's still admitted at NKTI but we were advised that she can be discharged anytime and continue her medication at home, however we would still need assistance in covering all the Medical Bills including the Professional Fees for her Doctors.
Kindly refer below for detailed history since she was admitted:
> Feb. 17 - She was admitted to National Kidney Transplant Institute. She was tested with all laboratories she needed. The result was UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). She was given IV antibiotics and scheduled for CT scan (Triple Phase CT Scan of Whole Abdomen) to find the reason for her recurring UTI and to check if there's a urine specimen in her bladder she was referred to a urologist. Her Urologist then ordered to insert a catheter to help in her urine output that causes the infection. We were then informed that the infection already reached her kidney and that she needs to undergo an emergency procedure so they can check why she cannot urinate properly.
> Feb.26 - She had an emergency procedure called VCUG (Voiding Cystouretrogram) wherein she was diagnosed with Neurogenic Bladder. The Congenital Plan operation is to put a tube connected to her bladder to prevent her from having an infection on her Urinary Tract but it is costly so they had a temporary resolution is to put a catheter on her.
> March 8 - She had a high fever and was given antibiotics. She's vomiting extremely and became bloated. They request to perform an x-ray and saw that there was an excessive air in her stomach area so they gave her NG Tube to remove the air.
> March 15 - She had Triple Phase CT Scan of the whole abdomen
Diagnosis: CLOSTRIDIUM DIFFICILE COLITIS (also known as C. diff)
Doctors gave her IV antibiotics, Enema medication (rectal) every 6 hours, for 2 weeks her intestines were not functioning properly.
> MARCH 20 - KUB X-ray
> APRIL 9 - They've given her antibiotics for Sepsis.
> APRIL 11 - She was referred to a Surgeon because they found Abscess into her anal opening at the right side which causes her stool not to flow properly or continuously.
> MAY 7 - She had an Operation
Procedure: PERIANAL ABSCESS
> JUNE 19 - She had a Triple Contrast CT scan W/ Rectal and still has abscess inside her anal part.
> JUNE 20 - Had an Emergency operation
Procedure: Incision and Drainage
This is to remove all abscess that was stuck inside.
Our total hospital bill is 939,032.21 including the Doctor Fees amounting to 191,710.00. We managed to settle the amount of 233,000.00 with guarantee letters that we got from PCSO, Malacanang, and Senate office and cash donations from different individuals and we still have the remaining balance of 706,032.21. We need to settle the professional fees in cash for my sister to be able to come home. My family and I are asking for your help in raising money to aid us with my sister’s medical bill. We have already zeroed out our funds to pay for her previous confinement that happened last year and her other medical expenses since her hospitalization last February of this year. We are knocking at your kind hearts so that Gekka can come home and continue to recover. May our good Lord bless you and the rest of your family. Please continue to pray for her and our family.
