I just found out my best friend, Emily, was told to leave her job on September 22nd without being given a reason. Over the last three months, she has attempted to get back to work, but they will not allow her too. They assure her that her position is being held, but yet won't allow her to return. This company has not written her up, laid her off or officially fired her. Nothing has been filed in writing. She was simply told to leave and that was that. This company has withheld all her pay and now she is about to lose her home because the bank won't help her.
Emily is recently divorced and literally has no family left to turn to. She has no where to go and losing her home will literally land her on the streets living in her car. This means she would also lose all her possessions she worked so hard for, as she would have no where to store them and no funds to do so. Her bank account is overdrawn $92.00, and she has $5.00 in cash. To top all this off, she is unable to even purchase her thyroid medication or pay for needed doctor visits. Additionally, she will run out of dog and cat food soon and may be forced to surrender the two pets she loves so dearly. After a lifetime of hardship - to include being a battered wife twice, her son being sent to prison for making meth and living on the streets of Atlanta with a small child for over a year - I am just not sure my friend can handle another devastating event. Emily wants to work, but is in limbo with her current job and has put in too many years to lose it so close to retirement. Any monies raised will go directly to Emily to help with house payments, any necessary bills (such as utilities, medical, food, etc.), and attorney fees.
I know here in the United States and the world, we have a lot of caring people. Emily is an ex-army spouse and comes from a military family. She does not deserve to be treated this way after all the sacrifices she has made and the hard life she was given. Please, help in any way you can. Any donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated, but if you can not help monetarily, please help me share this campaign with as many people possible.
