The year of 2013 was very decisive for my life, as I made several choices related to my future university education. I applied to 8 universities in the United States, through the Institute of International Education – IIE/IBEU, seeking to realize the dream of studying Aerospace Engineering. I was accepted to 5 of them.
On January 28, 2014, I received an acceptance letter from Florida Institute of Technology, located in Florida, USA. It is widely regarded as a reference research university and it is among the 200 most prestigious universities in the world, according to Forbes Magazine. The day I received the news was one of the happiest of my life!
So far, I have also been accepted to Rochester Institute of Technology, located in the State of New York/USA, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Prescott, located in Arizona/USA, University of Kansas, located in Kansas/USA, and University at Buffalo - The New York State University, located in New York/USA. In Brazil, I took the university entrance exam and I entered the Federal University of Goiás to study Medical Physics, I was still approved at the University of Vale do Paraíba – UNIVAP in São José dos Campos/SP to study Aeronautical an Space Engineering.
However, there is still one significant challenge I have to face in order to fulfill my dream: my family cannot afford to pay for my studies over the next 4 years.
The course is full time and the campus offers, from the second year on, part time job.
The value per year is U$ 49.082,00. The Committee of Admissions and Scholarships at Florida Institute of Technology, after analyzing my application and my resume, awarded me a scholarship in the amount of U$ 20.000,00 per year. Thus, the annual cost is U$ 29.082,00.
