This is one of the hardest things i've ever done, really it is and I have done done a lot of things. I have never been great at asking for help but I am slowly learning to. I have no idea how this is going to go or how to approach this request so i've opted for sharing my heart, but could I please have a moment of your time.

My name is Trudi, and I am 32 years old. I am currently living with my parents due to having mental health problems, severe anxiety, agoraphobia, severe depression; and I have had a physical nervous breakdown seven years ago.

So now, I am beginning to feel ready to start my Mental Health Resource Hub, I would like to make videos on YouTube and collect information. Unfortunately my external hard drive gave out today, and this had all my information and stuff in it that I have been collecting. The other thing is, I am on ESA, and most of my benefits goes towards household stuff. Doing the Hub will help me get me hopefully into employment. As The government have never really addressed people with long term mental health problems, I want to help.

I have always had a passion for psychology, but thought that with my mental health problems it would never be possible to do, as well as not being very good at school. But I have always liked helping people, and making people's lives a little better.

Due to my own experience with mental health, knowing how exhausting it can be hunting for information about services, and charities, especially for those who have mental health and their family members. As it can make you feel as though it is a hard time getting the support you need, where you feel you are not ill enough to get the assistance.

I made this site for the core reason that I think finding out about mental illnesses, your rights, and contacts can be a very long struggle. All the sites and charities don’t list many places that isn’t theirs, and most of them are not directly near where you live.

I saving some money for a new computer, at the moment I have a very old laptop I am working from, which is 7 years old and very slow and is incapable of doing more than one or two tasks. This is the computer I am currently working from, a Dell Inspirion 1545, with 150gb of internal memory and 4gb of RAM. I am currently saving everything on external hard drives, and jump drives because the computer is so slow.

I would like to use the new computer so I can work from home as a researcher, as well as make website like a hub for resources for mental health problems. I made this site for the core reason that I think finding out about mental illnesses, your rights, and contacts can be a very long struggle. All the sites and charities don’t list many places that isn’t theirs, and most of them are not directly near where you live.In addition to making a safe place where people write about their conditions, get advice, and be in an understanding community. Another reason is because I want to help people concerning benefits, help when sanctioned such as food banks and other emergency help, and places where there are support groups and course for people to go to.

I also plan to sell cards, and other handmade gifts to raise money for my project, as well as for charities. I will sell some cards on EBay, and the money paid will go to different mental health charities, from all different countries, as well as the UK. When selling on Etsy, the money will go straight into projects, and for papers, information, thesis, academic papers behind pay walls. I would also like to pay the contributors back, as I feel this would be an appropriate thing to do, because I want to be as transparent and thankful as possible.

As well as make videos about the history of mental health and how people with mental illness are treated around the world so we can talk about the topic. I want to make interesting and fun content to make the subject more approachable to people who do not have mental health problems, but also digestible for people who do without making it boring. I would also like to do livestreams with guests, as well as doing charity streams for other charities that help people with mental health problems and to raise some funds for other projects.

If I used the mental health hub, and spoke about psychology, the history of psychology, and investigating psychology and mental health. Will that be something you would be interesting in watching? With news, and information for people with mental health problems. On my channel called Perfectlyfadeddelusions, will be used to talk about feminists and social justice advocates and how they are appropriating mental health, making up mental illness for victimhood currency, and way to pass responsibility for their bad behavior. Whether psychology and psychiatry has become too feminist, how feminists have infiltrated mental health charities, and skewing statistics. Would that be something you would be interesting to you?

Going to libraries to get information around London, to learn more about mental health and mental illness, as well as online behind paywalls to use as sources in my podcasts and blogs that I intend on writing to help people understand their conditions, history of mental health, and the NHS health trust.

I hope that once my local mental health team has assessed me, I will be able to get a benefit, which will provide some money to pay a support worker to go places with me. At the same time, I would like to be able to get more support for me and mother who is my carer and my friend.

I know it is a lot of money to ask for, and that I could do this for nothing or very little. On the contrary, this is a long-term project, which I am planning to take further, and move into my own community of Walthamstow working in conjunction with those with mental health in the company of love and support.

The money will be used to buy an software to use to write scripts, make inserts for cards, artist materials, and for my research on mental health. And to make animations (though not very good), to use in videos to make more fun, and more informative for people.

A list of equipment I would like, and alternatives if they are out of stock.

  • 4TB External Hard drive X3 (£389.85 = £129.95 each)

I also plan to sell cards, and other handmade gifts to raise money for my project, as well as for charities. I will sell some cards on EBay, and the money paid will go to different mental health charities, from all different countries, as well as the UK. I would also like to pay the contributors back, as I feel this would be an appropriate thing to do, because I want to be as transparent and thankful as possible.

Eventually if this project is successful, I am hoping to use the money I get from cards, and other will be used to rent a place in my area, where people can come and talk, make friends, and find useful support in finding employment. To expand the help on the website, have and training staff in the local job centre or employment agencies as to how to communicate with people with mental health. Be a representative for clients, communicating with other charities in research and making mental health more prominent.

As well as be able to do an Open University course in Psychology and other subjects, and the equipment would be used to help me study too, which will help me better understand the subjects I am going to be talking about.

Update posted by Trudi Harding at 12:30 am

Hi, Quick update, I emailed my MP about getting an appointment with Voluntary Action. Unfortunately the name has changed, but the good news is that she has passed onto my local Councillor and to a local charity. I'm still waiting for a reply, but I thought this was important news.

  • So sorry to hear what happened to you. Nan never said anything about it. So this is the first I heard about what happened. It was a shock. I hope you are successful in getting the equipment and your project off the ground. Please keep in contact. All the best. Suzanne
