We have been working with the Shirazi family since they entered Malaysia as refugees in 2013. Asraa and her family fled her hometown of Damascus during the war in Syria. They spent over 6 years working towards getting refugee status for her family and are still waiting for that time when they can move forward and be resettled.

Their 5 children were born during their waiting period in Iran and Malaysia and have never known a day of stability in their young lives. All of them were delivered via Caesarean section due to Asraa's low blood pressure.

Her 6th child is due soon, this November, and she will require a blood transfusion due to her anemia, and this baby must also be delivered via a surgical Ceasarean Section.

Due to her refugee status, she had to pay the increased foreigner fee for her last delivery (5th child). She has paid $730 USD and has the remaining balance of $1,080 USD to be paid to the hospital. The hospital won't release the baby's birth certificate until the balance is fully paid.

Total fundraising amount:
The balance payment for C-section for her 5th child is $1,080 USD.
The blood transfusion for anemia costs $980 USD.
The new Caesarean section costs $1,810 USD.
Total: $3,870 USD (excluding a 12% surcharge by GoGetFunding for credit card payments, approximately $500 which will be included in the final amount).

Her family is already extremely behind and must settle the bill to be able to be admitted to the hospital for this new Caesarean Section surgical delivery.

Her husband works as a restaurant waiter, and earns RM1,600 monthly (equivalent to $390 USD), barely enough to put food on the table. All savings that were left over have been put towards the medical bills. They are sharing their home with other refugee families. They have exhausted all possibilities and this is their last desperate attempt to stay afloat.
