We are raising funds for our children's friend - a 16 year old beautiful girl, who has been bravely battling cancer for the past 14 months.

A day after her 15th birthday, Sophia complained of severe stomach ache and had to be rushed to the paediatric ward. The doctor asked for a routine CT scan and while the report was awaited, her family was more than anxious. But the result couldn't have shocked them more. Sophia was diagnosed with B cell type aggressive non Hodgkins Lymphoma in an advanced stage.

The cancer had spread to her lungs, pancreas and kidney. A child who was a voracious reader, a creative fiction writer, an ace golfer, an enthusiastic basketball player and a class topper had to abstain from school and all sporting activities. She was admitted into the oncology department of Rabat hospital in Morocco .

She has been undergoing treatment from the 19th of August, 2014 till date which has comprised of 10 chemo therapy sessions, numerous scans, transfusions, blood tests, and biopsies etc all of which are expensive. Due to further complication with jaundice, the onset of chemo had to be delayed for a month’s time along with hospitalisation. The initial prognosis was for 6 sessions of chemo and subsequent discharge by January 2015. Both her parents had to quit their professions to be the primary care givers, in addition all the family savings have been used towards part of her treatment. The estimated expenses have more than exceeded the limits along with the medical insurance, as it was noticed after the 3rd chemo cycle that the disease was rare and chemo resistive and the cycles had to be repeated with new therapies.

The family is now pinning their last hopes on an alternative medical treatment for a possible stem cell/bone marrow replacement - which, according to Rabat hospital in Morocco .

Her parents are facing depleting finances, the school and parent community are supporting the family with contributions. We reach out to all of you to help in any way possible.

Sophia is looking forward to attending her 10th grade and has great ambitions for her future, which may just remain a dream if she is not helped along.
