Zen was born undiagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH is rare, occurring in one out of every 2,500 to 3,000 births.

CONGENITAL DIAPHRAGMATIC HERNIA. It's when the diaphragm fails to fully develop, thus making a hole where abdominal organs can then go through the chest cavity. Thus occupying the space for proper lung development. To be able to survive, she needed to undergo a major operation, ideally right after birth, or after her vitals has been stabilized.

But CDH doesn't end with that surgery. It has been a constant battle eversince. CDH also called out some of her friends and rested upon Zen, Hypoplastic Right Lung, Right Lung Atelectasis, Bronchiectasis, Pulmonary Hypertension and Low Grade GERD are its companions. They almost took our warrior away.

CDH is a life-long battle that requires life-long treatment as well. Zen has been fighting for her life since the day she was born and it pains us everytime she's hurting. Her willingness to live can never be denied. We have been back and forth of the hospital since then.

In her most recent admission, we are instructed of the following: oxygen support all throughout the day, 5 maintenance medicines, nebulization 3 times a day, plus constant follow ups.
