Help Yana to win the battle for life

Yana Yakovleva is only 4 years old, but already she had to get through 15 operations.

Yana was born in July 2012, after only 5 days became her a serious congenital disease diagnosed - short bowel syndrome.

The parents were shocked, the diagnosis meant a complicated, expensive and very long treatment.

And above all, the disease is life-threatening and very painful. The Small Miracle Yana has it definitely not deserved.

The Russian doctors have amputated Yana 80% of the intestine.

But after the operation Yana was very weak. 6 months have the doctors tried different therapies, but nothing has helped. With 6 months of age Yana weighed only 2.6 kg.

The parents have not given up and sought for help abroad.

The doctors from the University Hospital Mannheim have ready expressed to help Yana and the family drove to Mannheim with the last hope to save Yana.

Multiple surgeries and therapies had doctors in Mannheim and Heidelberg make to save Yana. To the short bowel syndrome came another problem: by innumerable inserts of the catheters in Russia were Yana's veins heavily damaged, this has resulted to stenosis. This has made so very complicated treatment even considerably more difficult.

Nearly 200,000, - € cost the whole treatment. The family sold everything possible to fund the treatment. Part of it came together through donations.

Yana feels herself much better now, so that they could already go back home. But the treatment is not over yet. Yana must go back to University Hospital Mannheim for several times for tests and therapies to defeat her disease ultimately.

The parents could not finance everything, all funds are gone, the borrowed for the treatment financing funds they must pay off for years.

To finance the treatment, upcoming curative treatment and studies need the family still 40.000, - €.
