Help With Our Wedding

Hello Everyone -

Douglas and I have been together for 6 years, and have only been able to dream about getting married. With the overturning of DOMA, and many States allowing same-sex marriages, we want to take the next step in life together, and express our love for each other in front of all our family and friends, by getting married.

Back in 2011, we were going to make the trip to Iowa from Wisconsin to be married. However, that went down the tubes. Douglas's employer decided that they were moving overseas, and he was being let go. My employer took a company Census, and decided that some positions were unnecessary to keep, and I too lost my job. Soon after that, out Landlord told us he was being foreclosed on, and the bank gave us 1 month to move. Figuring this was the end of our bad luck, we decided to take our severance pay, and find a new house to rent. No big deal.

Then one evening, the phone rang, it was Douglas's sister. His father had a sever stroke and we needed to travel to Tennessee right away. By the good graces of God, his father survived, but was 100% paralyzed on his left side, and had brain damage.

We made the trek back to Wisconsin, to resume our troubles we had left behind.  We then got another call from his sister soon after our arrival back home, and Douglas's father wanted us to come and provide care for him at home. So we took what was left of our severance, and made the move to TN, and that was 2 years ago.

With all this going on, our wedding was canceled. As time goes by we still dream of getting married. With only myself working, Douglas and I providing 24/7 care, our bills etc. It is very difficult to make this happen. We are looking for a few generous donations to make this day for us possible. We are not looking for something very extravagant, just something special we can share with our family & friends.  Any size donation would be greatly appreciated.
