My name is Justin Barter and I’m just trying to help out an old friend going through one of the toughest emotional and financial times many of us will hopefully never have to endure.
I’ve known Graham Solomon for roughly 25 years and despite only being acquaintances over that time, I’ve always had a huge amount of respect for him as a person and even more so as a father raising his little boy, Jude, who was born with Down Syndrome 9 years ago.
I honestly don’t even know the FULL extent of Jude’s health problems prior to what I’ve learned these past 3-4 months working with Graham on a project but it’s been a hell of a lot for a little kid and the Solomons as a family. A couple of weeks ago Jude has to have open heart surgery; a procedure in itself which comes with its own set of complications and risks. Several days ago Jude suffered a stroke as a result of the surgery and seeing what effect all of this has on Graham both financially and emotionally is just too much for me to just sit around and not at least TRY to help him and his family out.
Hearing stories about how a 9 year old little boy has now lost his ability to speak (as a result of the stroke) or how it breaks his Dads heart screaming from the physical pain he is going through on a daily basis is just heart breaking to hear, especially as a father of two young boys myself.
Graham (a plumber) still gets up every morning these past few weeks, goes to work and does the most that he can do to cover the ever-increasing medical costs as well as taking care of the rest of his family.
I don’t know what the bills are so far, what they’ll end up at or how many more struggles him and his family will have along the way but I’m pretty sure that number will be (if not already) in the hundreds of thousands of Rand, so ANYTHING at this point from a fund raising campaign such as this will most certainly not go unappreciated.
Thanks to all that have taken the time to read this far and let’s see how much we can help these guys out and hopefully alleviate just a little bit of the financial pressure.
