"...and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." James 5:16
This has been our testimony ever since we heard of the prayers and wishes coming from different parts of the world. God's name be glorified and praised forever!
My husband, James or JD to most has been diagnosed with Pituitary macroadenoma (brain) tumor and has shown progression in size and mass effect now measuring 3.3x2.8 cm from previous 2.1x2.1 cm (in 2014). With that, a partial blindness where his vision is missing in the outer half of both eyes has now occurred. It has to be removed in order to avoid damaging the optic nerve completely.
This is especially difficult because if you know JD at all, you know that he is constantly sketching, drawing and doodling.
There were 2 options presented to us: Transsphenoidal surgery or Gamma knife radiosurgery. We opted for Transsphenoidal as we think it is more feasible -- cost and time wise. Schedule of operation will be on March 29 (afternoon MNL time) at Philippine General Hospital (PGH). The doctor assured us that the procedure will be swift and recovery period may be 1 week if no complications.
Such surgery is estimated to be around P300,000 or $6,000 (while radiosurgery is twice as that). We have setup this fundraiser to help us with the costs for surgery and travel for JD and our family. Since we are from Cagayan De Oro (an hour by plane to Manila), we are anticipating a lot of logistical costs along the way. Not to mention the tests we have to comply prior to the surgery (MRI, Prolactin, Cortisol, etc.).
We sincerely would appreciate any amount of support to raise funds for his surgery. We earnestly seek for your continued prayer for His sustaining grace in the next 2 weeks as we wait and prepare for the surgery. We are seeing Him at work moment by moment as His peace that passes all understanding has been our greatest comfort.
