Help with Cancer needed

Barend is a Martial Arts (Taekwon-Do) instructor that unfortunately spent 2016 fighting Stage 4 Cancer (Hodgkin lymphoma). This is his story.

In 2012 Barend moved to Cape Town to start a new life and open his Taekwon-Do school. It started slow and he had to work 2 jobs to keep the club open(at a loss) with 2 or 3 students. As time moved on the club grew and it was time to give back.

In 2015 Barend approached a local organization to offer his services for free in the hopes to help where he can and give back to his community. This project went better than anyone could have expected and the benefits were tremendous. Both mental and physical. Then it Happened...

Feb 2016, Barend got sick (No medical) but continued to teach. Pain, cold sweats, seizures and living off morphine to cope, but still continued to teach. In July after many visits to Gov Hospital was finally diagnosed and started chemo, still continued to teach.

Barend never showed his pain to his students and even took them to a National championship 2 days after chemo (traveled 1900km by car) and competed to show his kids Perseverance. He won 2 medals and the 14 students competing, brought back 22 medals. Now most of the costs for this event was paid for out of pocket and with the support of local sponsors. Again Barend along with support carried these costs with pleasure knowing the value it would give to these kids.

So basically, you have an instructor that loves what he does for these kids so much that he cant give up and has to keep fighting and this is why we are asking for your help. His bills are currently at R45000 ($4000) and climbing. Along with student loans and other dept there is just no way he can cover the bills.
