Help Win Aung Survive and See His Family Again

With Stage 4 kidney failure, Win Aung's family in Myanmar has lost their only source of income and might not have a chance to see him again.

Win Aung left Launglon village in Myanmar to work as a mechanical engineer in Singapore. However, both of Win Aung's kidneys have lost their function and he is no longer able to work. The doctor says that he needs to go for dialysis 3 times a week in order to stay alive.

Stranded in Singapore with Overwhelming Costs
Win Aung is currently waiting for a chance to return to Myanmar to receive a kidney transplant from his brother. However, the Covid-19 situation has made it difficult for him to return so he is stuck alone in Singapore with mounting medical expenses.

As a foreign worker, Win Aung's insurance covers only a maximum of $15,000 and he does not receive any medical subsidies. However, his first hospitalization already cost him $20,000 which exceeded the maximum amount he is covered for.

He was warded again for a kidney emergency which resulted in another $9,000 in medical bills.

All these are on top of a monthly fee of $2,400 he needs to pay for his dialysis ($200 per session x 12 times a month).

Beyond his medical bills in Singapore, we are also trying to raise money for Win Aung to travel back to Myanmar so that he can receive a kidney transplant from his brother which would cost about $60,000.

Waiting for a Chance to Return
Win Aung already has a willing kidney donor, his brother, however his timing is incredibly unfortunate and Covid-19 has left him stranded in Singapore with recurring medical bills and no income.

His wife and son of 2 years old back in Myanmar are dependent on him and are very worried for his health but have no way to meet him.

He sacrificed experiencing his son's early years to work in Singapore so he can provide for his family. However, he is now stuck with no financial or emotional support.

We have tried appealing to various charities in Singapore to no avail, therefore, we are raising funds here.

The amount raised will help support Win Aung's medical expenses, and sustain his dialysis sessions so that he is able to ride out the Covid-19 situation, help him return home to Myanmar and receive the transplant he needs, and alleviate his family and his living expenses in the meantime.
