Campaign Story
This campaign is to raise funds for my beautiful cousin Vivi who has also been my friend since I was born. She lives in Indonesia so I only get to see her every few years but the next time we catch up I would not like to see her in pain or suffering.
Vivi is 21 years old (born October 3rd, 1997) but 7 years ago, she was diagnosed with Thoracolumbar scoliosis which is a medical condition where the spine is curved abnormally. She was told originally that physiotherapy will help eventually if she keeps doing it. However, over the years, it has progressed to become more severe until just recently, she was told by doctors that if she doesn't get an operation within the next month, her spine will permanently remain an abnormal curve and she won't ever be able to walk again. Last week, she travelled to Malaysia with her mother to get a quote from a specialist surgeon. They were told the operation would cost a total of $150,000 Malaysian ringgits, which roughly equals $50,000AUD, but she would be normal again. This cost is for 2 operations, medication and hospital stay. Even with the help from close family and friends, being able to reach this amount is merely impossible. So it has come down to this as a final resort. Any donation will be definitely be greatly appreciated!
My cousin is a very kind and humble person and doesn't want to let anyone know that she is in pain because then they might worry about her. But this has definitely had a very big impact on her life. Last year she received a scholarship to learn Mandarin teaching overseas in a university in China. However, since realising how severe her condition is becoming, she has had to come home and put a pause on her studies. Even after all of this, she is still the optimistic, happy girl I have always known and sometimes, it is hard to tell that there is anything wrong with her
She has a very bright future ahead of her and deserves the very best. Please help out if you can. We will appreciate any donation as she needs the operation ASAP!! Thank you so much
