Help Vinroy and Kemeka Get Hitched!

How Do We Know These People?

My husband and I went to Jamaica for our honeymoon in 2008. While we were there, we met Vinroy, who (at the time) worked at the resort we were staying at. We quickly hit it off, and he has been our "little brother" ever since then. We talk on the phone, and text, as often as we can. 

Vinroy and Kemeka's Story

Vinroy (25 years old) is now a baker at a store in Jamaica that is similar to Walmart. About a year ago, he met the lovely Kemeka (28 years old), a teacher. This past December 1 (2013), Vinroy surprised Kemeka at church and proposed...and the best part is, she said yes! We are so excited for our "little brother" and have been enjoying getting to know her (over the internet) over these past few months.

The sucky thing is that Vinroy does not make very much as a baker (less than minimum wage) and cannot even afford to pay all of his bills, much less save for a wedding. And to add to that, Kemeka is out of a job right now, and has been really struggling to find work, because of her area of study. They are both optimistic that God will bless her with a job in September, however, they want to get married at the end of August. Even if she were to get a job right now (which wouldn't pay very much), it would be just enough to make ends meet, not fund a wedding. Vinroy is seeking a higher-paying job as well.

Why Do They Need The Money?

On the positive side, weddings in Jamaica are nowhere near the price of a North American wedding. They only need about $3,000-$4,000 to pay for a wedding and maybe a small honeymoon. The money would cover the church rental, rental of their outfits, paying for a reception venue and caterers, and like I said, maybe a small honeymoon (depending on how much is raised). My husband and I are struggling, young entrepreneurs, so we can't afford to pay for this all ourselves (although if we could, we would in a heartbeat). We would love to actually be able to go down to Jamaica for the wedding and meet Kemeka, but that's another prayer request for another day :)

What Can You Do?

Any amount you can give would be greatly appreciated. 100% of the money that is made (after the "Go Get Funding" fees) will be sent to Vinroy and Kemeka. The wedding is on August 30th (if they can afford it!) Ideally, they would have all of the money by early June, but I'll keep this going until July if we haven't met our target.

After having been down to Jamaica and seeing the vast discrepancy between their lifestyle and struggles and how we live in North America, we seem so rich in comparison...even when we have nothing ourselves! Thank you!
