Help Victor, Help Others – World Challenge Trip to Peru 2016

World Challenge has been running educational expeditions since 1987. We run our expeditions in the ethos of Challenge, Participation and Environment, to help open the minds and broaden the experience of young people.

Our teams consist of student participants (which we call Challengers), along with an Expedition leader, a School leader and possibly an Expedition Assistant depending on team size.

The Expedition:

What I'm Doing?: We are a group of 16 teenagers from Munich International School that have joined the World Challenge and will be going on a 21 day long expedition in the South of Peru, our project phase will be taking place in Puno. During my expedition I will be doing community based work with my group where we complete actions such as building and renovating schools or orphanages. Another part of the project phase of my expedition is that I will be integrating socially with the under privileged children by educating and entertaining them. It's a one in a lifetime chance for me to have the opportunity of helping the less privileged in Peru as well as coming in contact with the extremely acclaimed culture of Peru.

Why?: The people we are going to help do not live a life like most of us do in Europe. The average gross domestic product per capita in Peru is around 5700 USD. This means that the average person lives off 15 dollars/day and depending on where in Peru that can be far less. The poverty in Peru means that there is not enough money to support a stable learning environment for kids in terms of proper schools & educational material. Our project phase where we help kids and establishments will be taking place in some of the most under privileged areas of Peru. I expect to have a huge impact on the lives of these kids by not only entertaining them and bringing them some joy through fun and games but also by educating them and attempting to teach them english. Often I think this impact can be underestimated. I will be taking this as a learning experience where I can see first hand the impact my actions have on others. If I can teach an orphan how to speak english I can open up his world to millions of potential new experiences.

Why Should You Donate?: Our help is needed as much as yours. To be able to help the less privileged in Peru I will need to raise money. I will be organising things on my own in my school, such as having bake sales, waxing skis, selling the magazines I made for my personal project etc. However to assure that I raise enough money in the limited amount of time, it would be very helpful if people could donate to the less fortunate in Peru which I will be helping. As a donator I will be keeping you up to date on how Peru goes and any information regarding the expedition.
