Campaign Story
On August 4, 2020, an explosion deemed the third biggest in the world after Hiroshima and Nagazaki, struck the Lebanese Capital, Beirut, leaving more than 175 dead, more than 6000 injured and close to 300,000 without homes and livelihoods. Many individuals and families were deeply affected by this explosion as an entire city was nearly wiped out. This campaign is to raise funds for 2 victims of this atrocious explosion; here are their stories: the first one lives with his parents and sister in one of the most affected neighborhoods, Gemmayze. In less than 30 seconds, they lost their home and their most prized possessions. Ever since the explosion they have been sleeping under a falling roof, in dangerous conditions. The second one, a single mom, was at her workplace at the port and she got severely injured when a huge glass window shattered to pieces, tore through her back, and cut open her left leg. With at least a month at the hospital, 3 surgeries, and 4 to 5 months of physical rehabilitation, it will be a while before she can stand on her feet and resume work to be able to support her child.
These people urgently need your help to make the necessary repairs to their homes, regain their livelihoods and cover their basic needs for the coming months. Your donations can help change their lives in this extremely dire economic situation. Please donate now!
