Who are Longpi Artisans? - Longpi Artisans are traditional and indigenous makers of Nungbi Stoneware which has a long history since 1000 years ago. Located in a remote corner of North-East India, in the state of Manipur, this unique stoneware is created using a mixture of black weather stone and serpentanite and moulded and shaped by hand without using the potter's wheel. They are famous for their unique color and design, sturdiness and the aroma it produces when a dish is cooked in the Nungbi Pot. But due to lack of connectivity and exposure and lack of financial support, these artisans are slowly disappearing into oblivion.
Who are we? - We are Kraftegy, a small start-up venture started by two childhood friends, whose main focus is to promote local handicrafts and other artistic handloom products to the world. We are partners with these artisans and craftsmen and we help them connect with the right people, nurture a long term business relationship and eventually improve their livelihoods.
Why do we require your help?
- Longpi artisans are secluded from the main population as they are located in a very remote place with tough terrain. There are no road connectivity and telecommunication facilities available to them. Your kind support will help them set up a proper communication and connectivity channel and thereby expedite and expose their crafts & skills to the world and will help them secure a profitable business for themselves.
- Kraftegy, as partners of the artisans, have been able to secure few short term business deals with few business firms who are interested in the products. This will help sustain our partners for few more years. But, we are loooking for a long term solution. Kraftegy has decided to bring the Longpi Crafts into the Online world by setting up an online store, warehouse, logistics etc. Your kind support will help us launch Longpi into the Online world and will help scale up our business even further.
- The artisans come from a finanacially weak section, their daily income was less than $1. After partnering with Kraftegy, their daily wages have increased to $5, but it is still a meagre wage. Our partnership is of the 80/20 ratio. 80% of the profits goes to the artisans, 20% for Kraftegy. With your kind support, we would be able to increase their earnings and become self reliant, thereby improving their livelihoods as well as their society.
Your small help will be a big step forward for us and the Artisans in this secluded part of the world. We request humbly, for your kind in our venture so that we can showcase this amazing craftmenship and share it with the world.
We Thank you for your support.
