Hello from Bali !

If you've ever been to Bali, you know there's no shortage of stray cats and dogs here.

The stray population is out of control and – while many are lucky enough to be fed by the community and manage to scrape by – the vast majority of them endure a life of hardship, hunger, fights, disease, and danger.

My name's Retno, I just moved to Bali, just before COVID-19 hit and now everything is in lockdown. As with other places in Bali, there are lots of stray cats and dogs where I live.

Now that the whole Bali is on lockdown and plenty of people is laid off, the ferals/strays are having a really hard time.

People laid off = no one is feeding them + more people dump the kittens/puppies on the street

While some of them live around inhabited houses and can survive by scavenging out of the bins, others aren't so 'lucky'.

The other day this little, very skinny, mama cat visit our home, asking to be fed. Which we did. She started to regularly visit our home in certain time, demanding to be fed.

She is very sweet and friendly but wouldn’t stay for long.

Today we found out why.

She came today with two kittens, it hit me that this mama cat would continue to have kittens if someone wouldn’t neuter them. I have look around for pet rescue organizations but it seems that they are also closed due to the COVID-19 and those who is still open, is lacking in funding.

How you can help:

The fee to neuter and vaccinate a cat is about 89 Euro, this is quite substantial for people here. With that money, they could feed their families for several days.

I would like to neuter the mama cat, vaccinates all three of them with the necessary vaccines and help the local cat and dog rescue.

The local dog and cat rescue is a one-woman show, and they merely rely on the help of friends. They lack funds, infrastructure, and gear.

With your donations, we will:

  • Spay & neuter the mama cat and the 2 kittens when they are ready to keep the feral population under control and prevent further hunger, disease and suffering
  • Vaccinates the 3 cats against contagious and lethal diseases and medically treat them should they need it
  • All of the excess of fund raised will be given to the local rescue organizations to be used for spaying/neutering,vaccinating, medicating, and feeding the strays cat and dog.

Cats, dogs and humans will be forever grateful 🐾
