Hi there,

We need your help to complete the reconstruction of a dormitory, a school and a social-medical center in a way to give back hope to the 384 children of Kay Lesli: « CENTER OF LIFE AND HOPE ».

Kay Lesli: « CENTER OF LIFE AND HOPE » is dedicated to saving lives and bringing sustainable programs to orphan and marginalized children quickly and effectively. The objective of this program is to help those kids to go from misery to well-being by a high-standard education, a technical or liberal career and work.

Children targeted by this program are those who are from 6 to 8 years old; don’t go to school from single parent families (with the mother only) without any revenue sources and with more than 2 children to care. Kids from far-off districts live in the dormitory during class days and go back home on weekends and for vacations.

The center was found in 2011 at Fonfrède, south of Haiti with 46 children and grew up to 384 children in 2017 whose 148 internal children. However, the hurricane Matthew has destroyed all logistic resources of the center. The kids were forced to stay home for the 2017-2018 academic year, just because of the incompleteness of their dormitory and school’s reconstruction started since 2017.

This situation took them into deep worries about their future because they consider their temporary absences like a loss of hope; the center was their only source of hope to live and to get a future. This is the reason why we need your help to achieve this reconstruction to give them hope back. The amount needed is $40 000.

How the center has been founded?

A sad story relating to the vulnerable kids from the poorest families disadvantaged areas of south department of Haiti is the explanation of the center foundation.

In 2004, me, Pastor Piervé Aubourg, to protect my family against insecurity which was predominating Port-au-Prince, I decided to go to live at Cayes, 3thr city of Haiti, with my family. In the meantime, because of my job, I got to keep going to Port-au-Prince every Sunday afternoon and get back to Cayes every Friday afternoon. In my new neighborhood in the Cayes, there was a ravishing young lady whom had all her childhood living in domesticity (called: restavek in Haiti). Her name was Louise. She was 35 years old and was a cleaning woman at this moment.

Once, to motivate a 7 years old young girl to study, Louise told her:” Look at me! Do you know who I am?

  • She looked at her closely and answered: “No”
  • Louise replied: «I am a hopeless person”.
  • Louise asked her: « Do you know why? » And said, without waiting for her to answer: “I am so because I hadn’t had the chance to be like you. So, if you don’t want to become like me, study!”
  • Curious, the little girl asked her: “What do you really mean by this? “
  • I hadn’t had the chance like you to have parents to care of me and to send me to school, she answered.
  • And with a sad face, the little girl asked her: “Are your parents dead? “

At this very moment she started telling her the sad story of her life. “I didn’t know my father’s name, because he was dead before I was born. My mother was so poor that she could not take care of me, nor send me to school. Thus, when I was 6 years old, she sent me to “restavek” with a lady. She did it, not because she liked that, but for preventing me from dying of hunger and to give me a chance to go to school. The lady promised my mother to take care of me and to send me to school.

However, all I found in her house was abuses and humiliation. Finally, to get out of this infernal life, one day, I leave her house and went living in the street. I was 17 years old at this moment. This day, I met someone who told me about Jehovah and proposed home biblical reading. I told her that I could not accept because I don’t live anywhere. She asked:” You don’t have a house?” I related my story to her. She listened to me carefully and then invited me to come to live with her. I went. In her house, I didn’t meet any abuses, but my dream to go to school did not came true. Here I am now, a cleaning woman. I didn’t have any childhood, I didn’t have any youth, and I am no longer expecting anything in life. Therefore, if you don’t want to become like me, you must love and to work hard at school.

After hearing to that story, I called her and told her: “Don’t be so hopeless, you’re still young, you could become someone else in life.”

  • Smiling, she replied: « Thank you sir for trying to motivate me. But, at my age, I don’t have any reading or writing abilities; all I can expect from life is misery, pain and death.”
  • I keep trying to encourage her by saying: « Trust me, you could still become someone else. What are your dreams for your life? I’d like to help you to realize them.”
  • She answered, without any hesitation: « Save my two daughters.”
  • And then, emotionally, she looked at me and said: “Pastor, if you really want to help me to get a better life, help me in giving a high-standard educationto my daughters. I don’t want them to become like me, and my future depends on them too.
  • I asked her: « Where is their father? »
  • He gave up on me while my second pregnancy, after 3 months. Since this time, I don’t know what happen to him, she said.

Totally touched by her situation, I promised her to help.

One month later, I received 10 other requests to help from single mothers. As it was my dream to serve disadvantaged kids since my teen age, so I thought that it was a call from God to realize this dream. Therefore, after a long praying period, I decided to abandon my job in Port-au-Prince to go and install at Cayes, to dedicate myself entirely to that sanctimony. Finally, in 2007, I’ve launched the program with 5 kids.

One year later, I decided to create an organization to defense better the marginalized kids fate. Thus, I had a meeting with some friends to share my vision with them. After the meeting, we decided to set up the organization of life and hope for Haiti. It is a Christian and humanitarian organization, working in the evangelism and socio-economic development.

Our mission is to make disciples (Mt.28 :19 et 20)and take care of the poorest ones (Mt.25: 34-40) for Jesus, particularly orphans, vulnerable kids and widow. This organization is managed by an international financial committee of three members whose Professor Elie Hubert, American with Haitian origin is the President and a national administration board of 11 members whose I am the president. The administrators are all volunteers.

From there, the number of kids grew to 27. But the center was not totally shaped yet, because of a lack of financial resources. However, in 2010, after a meeting with Mrs. Paula Egan Wright, an American, teacher of French language, our dream really came true in launching the center of life and hope, with 46 kids. This number grew quick fast to 384 in 2017. The hurricane Matthew came and destroyed all the hope that this center represented for the kids.

This is why we are begging you to join your heart to ours in a way to work together to give them hope back. The simplest act of love you could to, is contributing to save their life. Let’s work together for them!

You may feel like a drop in the bucket. But every drop counts!
