You may have heard the appalling news that the badger cull licences for 2017 have now been issued.
Sadly, two new zones for Somerset have also been licensed as well as a five year rolling license for the original zone on Exmoor. The zones cover land from Steart at the River Parrett to Bridgwater and across to the Quantock Hills, then from Taunton up to Exmoor (original zone) and down to Tiverton.
This gives us a total of three zones in Somerset and the target that the Government wants to see killed this year in total across the country is 33,841 badgers!
In order for our patrols (Somerset Badger Patrol) to continue running we will need funds to help us cover our petrol costs and our central phone number, etc. Petrol is by far our biggest cost, as some of us are driving miles each night.
Any donations will be very kindly received. Now in our fifth year here we can't thank you all enough for your continued support.
We were kindly given these beautiful paintings by Sam Cannon so we would like to offer them as FIVE individual prizes which you could win when you donate.
For those donating £5 you will have 1 ticket put in the 'hat'. For donations of £10, two tickets in the 'hat' and three tickets for those donating £20 and over. Please remember to leave your email address when you donate so we can make sure we can contact you should you be a winner! We will do the draw on the last day of the fundraiser at the end of October.
