My mother Renny and i have been working for years already with our tiny tour operator for eco tour in north sulawesi. we live in a small village named Batuputih next to the Famous Tangkoko National Park where you can see the world famous Tarsier and black macaque. ( please google it Renny's Tangkoko safety stop .
this small village is beautiful with ocean and mountain view where the tourism industry could be so much better than now and could give job to the locals.
we have started a project named 'D'Linggars trash hero'. in this program we went to picking plastic and campaign to reduce plastic with the local childrens while learning to speak english and learn about how do we keep this national park and all animals stil exist in the very far future. as our village have many foreign visitors, we prefer to do this program when there are foreign tourist to volunteer with us so the kids could practise their english directly with tourist.
while picking plasticand learning english, mostly we will talk and learn about conservation and how to keep this nature last forever to very far future,
this program held once a week in our village or any time when there are foreign guest want to do volunteer .. we always have to prepare food, gift or prize for those kids who could win a game or answer a question during the program so the kids will always love to join this program.
the most of villagers here work as a fishermen or work at the gold mining at the village next door. but for some times in a year they cannot go fishing because there is very big wind.
and not everybody could go working at the mining. this is why we teach them to do creativ bussines like handy craft or to become a tour leader.
so peope still can make a living without fight each other to have a job.
also one more important thing is there will be a volunter coming from netherland to stay here and help us teaching the locals for a month on the next year. i wish we could provide him a room and food for free as we are so greatful that he would like to help us alot.
started from the begining, we only got the fund from Renny's Tangkoko Safety stop to run this program, as we got 10 % of the total fee the guest will pay to Renny's Tangkoko Safety Stop for the tour. but now Renny's Tangkoko Safety Stop are building a new homestay so all the fund will be pending for this whole year maybe until next year
we still want to do the D'Linggars Trash Hero, and also the kids still asking when we will do it again as they are really enjoy it. also some tourist coming to do volunteer .
we need your help to keep doing this.
