Help us to keep cleanup project alive!

Hello friends,

first of all, thank you very much for your time by reading this.

On behalf of my friend Theo, I created this campaign to support his project.

My name is Theo and I am a founder of cleanup project in Sumatra called Cleanup Sumatra. I created this project because I was angry at Indonesia’s never ending waste problem. So I wanted to turn this anger into something positive. Therefore, in 2017 I created CleanUp Project as a solution to deal with this problem. We are group of highly motivated people who want to make a change and help to protect our environment as well as being an example for a society. Clean up Sumatra is not only project that cleans ocean, beaches and other polluted places but our important activity is to organize workshops where we educate local people and mainly children about our environment. In the past several months, we were raising funds for supporting local families who, due to the pandemic, couldn't work. Funds were used for purchasing food which was then distributed to the families in need.

This project was so far financed from our own resources and sold merchandise products. Unfortunately, government of Indonesia closed borders and doesn't allow any tourists to enter. This affected us very much in Cleanup Sumatra. We are mostly employed in tourism industry, therefore we hugely depend on incoming tourists and due to the restrictions we basically lost our jobs and government doesn’t give us any support. We don’t get any income and cannot then finance clean up project.

I would like to point out that this campaign is not aimed for supporting us, as individuals, but to financially support facilities like a trash processing house which is for our project essential. Trash processing house is used to further process plastic, which we cannot recycle, into ecobricks that can be later used for building various things. Raised money will be used for paying the rent until Indonesia opens borders and we could go back to our jobs.
