Help us to hope again

My name is Leonardo Gomes, I'm 28 years old, I live in Brazil in the city of Belo Horizonte

My story starts on 08 March 2009, when I met my future wife and mother of my son.

We met in the city of Diamantina, state of Minas Gerais in the Carnival festivities.

We fell in love from the first moment we met. It was perfect, unforgettable.

Two years later, I was the victim of a serious motorcycle accident.

My girlfriend who would be my wife soon got desperate.

A car had advanced the signal and hit me at a crossroads.

As a result, I broke two spinal vertebrae and stayed in bed for several months.

I went to the Brazilian court for the offender to pay for the expenses of my bike and my treatment, but the process runs to this day. Justice in Brazil is very slow.

As a result of this accident I also had to leave college and interrupt my studies.

After this bad phase, in 2012 I discover that my girlfriend is pregnant. You're expecting a son, my son.

It was a moment of euphoria, a lot of happiness. Even though I did not have the financial conditions to buy a property and get married.

With difficulty I was able to obtain a loan in the bank and rented a house and bought the basics.

A few months later, comes the most important day, the birth of my son Rafael.

Like the Angel Raphael, my son was divine. The best thing that ever happened in my life.

Unfortunately, the joy lasted little in our new family. My wife contracted bacterial meningitis.

It was necessary to stop breastfeeding because of the risk of contamination.

She needed to be in isolation for 10 days for treatment with dexamethasone and ceftriaxone.

Thirty days after she left the hospital, meningitis came back stronger than before.

It was necessary to stay in ICU - Intensive Care Unit e and stay in the hospital

for another month.

This time it was necessary to use even stronger medicines, with many side effects.

Meropenem, dexamethasone and vancomycin.

Now when I thought the bad things would come to an end, i lost my job, and for eight months I can not get a fixed job.

And my situation is more complicated because I have no college. Here in Brazil not having college is very bad.

I intend to resume my studies, but in the moment I can hardly pay the bills.

My son's school is in debt, paying for energy, water, taxes, and others.

Cost of food in the city is very high. I have hopes of better days, that I can graduate, that I can pay my debts.

I also have four dogs that I adopted from the streets and who also depend on me.

My dream is to organize my life, and to know other countries. Improve my English and learn new languages.

I apologize for sharing all those problems that are certainly smaller than many others in even more serious situations.

But I did not know what else to do.
