Help us emigrate to Chile

Hello, my name is Victor, and together with a group of Friends, we are looking for a way to emigrate to Chile. Before talking about us, i will tell you about our country, Venezuela. It is saddening to see one of the most resourceful countries on earth be ruined and devastated by an inefficient and corrupt government. Today, living here is synonym of misery and a short life expectancy. In 2016 there was a average of 100 violent homicides per day. The minimum wage as of today is equivalent to 5$ monthly, which doesn’t fulfill even half of the basic necessities, where having 3 meals a day is now considered a luxury.

Early this year there was a social outburst caused by the fraudulent actions of Nicolas Maduro government against the National Assembly. 4 months of civil manifestations have left behind 120 deaths, hundreds of injured people, lots of property damage and, above all, a sentiment of despair and uncertainty. Day after day, those who go out to the streets to manifest our unhappiness are chased and frightened by the state security forces, who not only aren’t punished, but also constantly abuse their position and privileges, supported by the common criminals which are organized and backed up by the government. This situation does not allow the common citizens to have a wealthy life quality.

We are a group of young people, who wish to escape this situation, go to a better place and have a better life quality, where we can go outside peacefully without being fearful or uncertain about coming back home with our belongings or even our lives. We want a chance that was taken away from us to build a worthy future on our own effort. Did you know that in Venezuela, even having a college degree people are forced to work as cab drivers, haircutters or peddlers because its more lucrative than works such as engineers, lawyers and teachers? Our objective is to go abroad to Chile, one of the wealthiest countries in Latin America, and as of today it’s one of the main choices to Venezuelan emigrants. However, the very situation we are going through prevent us from going by our own means, mainly because of the high cost of acquiring dollars on the black market (only way for the common citizen to obtain $) and the impossibility of having access to the official dollar from a legal perspective. Even so, the fact of spending the money on buying $ means that we can’t buy medicine or food.

That is why, we, a small group of young people consisting of Lena Vitanza, Victor Ramos, Isaac Salom, Daniels Magallanes, Luis Fernandez, Christian Zambrano and Pedro Luis Zamora, have the necessity to start this funding. The cheapest travel cost to Chile by land, going through Colombia, Ecuador and Peru is approximately 350$ per person, making a total of 2450$ minimum, this only on the journey. The remaining 550$ from this funding would be used to paying the fees, including rental and food enough for our first month until we are able to obtain a work. The rest all goes by our own means, and we are certain of our success thanks to the help of such kind people willing to help us chase this goal.

We really wish to begin anew on Chile, some of us even are leaving behind unfinished college degrees thanks to the newly appointed National Constituent Assembly, which puts in grave danger all of the country’s democratic structure. We fear that all of our studies lose their value or even worse, we are unable to leave the country by the time we finish them. We really love our country a lot. But as of today, we cannot live with dignity here.

With nothing else to say, we are deeply grateful with anyone that can give us a hand. In more than one way, you are giving us a new chance of building our lives.

Hola, mi nombre es Victor, y junto mi grupo de amigos, estamos buscando la manera de emigrar a Chile. Antes de hablarles acerca de nosotros les hablare de nuestro país, Venezuela. Es triste ver como uno de los países con mayores recursos naturales del mundo ha sido desperdiciado y devastado por un gobierno ineficiente y corrupto. Hoy en día vivir acá es sinónimo de miseria y de una corta expectativa de vida. En el año 2016 se calculaba un promedio de 100 muertes violentas diarias. El sueldo mínimo actual, de aproximadamente 5$ no alcanza ni para la mitad de las necesidades básicas, donde muchas veces comer las 3 veces al día es hasta considerado un lujo.

A principios de este año hubo un estallido social provocado por acciones fraudulentas del gobierno de Nicolas Maduro en contra de la asamblea nacional. 4 meses de protesta después han dejado un saldo de aproximadamente 120 muertos, muchas personas heridas, muchos daños materiales y por sobre todo, un sentimiento de desesperación e incertidumbre. Día a día quienes salimos a las calles a manifestar nuestro descontento somos perseguidos y amedrentados por las fuerzas de seguridad del estado, quienes no solo suelen salir impunes, si no que abusan constantemente de sus cargos y privilegios, apoyados por los criminales comunes quienes están organizados y respaldados por el mismo gobierno. Esta situación no permite a los ciudadanos comunes tener una calidad de vida digna.

Nosotros somos un grupo de jóvenes, con el deseo de escapar de esta situación, de ir a un lugar mejor para poder tener calidad de vida, donde podamos salir tranquilamente de nuestro hogar sin tener incertidumbre de si al final del dia regresaremos a nuestras casas con nuestras pertenencias o incluso, la vida. Queremos tener una posibilidad que se nos fue arrebatada de construir un futuro digno con nuestro propio esfuerzo ¿Sabían que en Venezuela inclusive teniendo una carrera universitaria, las personas se ven obligadas a trabajar informalmente como taxistas, peluqueros o vendedores ambulantes porque estos empleos dan más dinero que trabajos como ingenieros, abogados y profesores? Nuestro objetivo es emigrar hacia Chile, uno de los países más estables y con mayor crecimiento económico en Latinoamerica que hoy en día es uno de los destinos mas populares para el emigrante Venezolano. Sin embargo la misma situación que estamos pasando nos impide si quiera poder optar por irnos bajo nuestros propios medios debido al alto costo del dólar en el mercado negro (única manera actual de conseguir) y la imposibilidad de optar al dólar oficial de manera licita. Ademas que el hecho de no gastar dinero con el fin de obtener estos dólares, significa dejar de comprar comida y medicinas.

Es por eso, que nosotros, un pequeño grupo de jóvenes conformado por Lena Vitanza, Victor Ramos, Isaac Salom, Daniels Magallanes, Luis Fernandez, Pedro Luis Zamora y Christian Zambrano, nos vemos en la necesidad de hacer esta recaudación. El costo mas económico del viaje a Chile por tierra atravesando Colombia, Ecuador y Peru es de aproximadamente 350$ por persona, sumando unos 2450$ mínimo, esto solo para el viaje como tal. Los 550$ restantes de esta petición, nos servirían para nuestra estadía el primer mes, pagando alquiler y comida suficiente para subsistir hasta conseguir trabajos. El resto corre por nuestra cuenta y tenemos la certeza de que conseguiremos el éxito con la ayuda de gente bondadosa que este dispuesta a ayudarnos a seguir este sueño

Realmente deseamos comenzar una vida nueva en Chile, algunos inclusive estamos abandonando los estudios universitarios a pesar de estar cerca de finalizarlos. Debido a la reciente Asamblea Nacional Constituyente que pone en peligro toda la estructura democrática del país y tememos que en algún punto nuestros estudios no tengan ninguna validez o que peor aún, no podamos salir del país luego de culminarlos. Amamos a nuestro país, realmente lo hacemos. Pero por hoy, no nos es posible vivir en èl.

Sin nada mas que agregar, estaremos profundamente agradecidos con todo aquel que colabore con nosotros. En más de un sentido nos están dando una nueva oportunidad para construir nuestras vidas.
