A public fridge where people can give spare food, and those who need food can take it.We believe too much food is discarded unnecessarily. We believe it should be redirected to those who can use it.Food is the most basic of human requirements. Yet, in one of the richest cities in the world, increasing numbers of Londoners are struggling to afford sufficient food for themselves and their families. Food poverty affects children, people of working age and older people and those at risk or living in food poverty are both in and out of work.

About Versova Welfare

The Versova Welfare Association (VWA) was formed in 1960 and immediately launched its pet project of VWA High School, which was started on 11th June 1962 with 19 students on the roll. In the next two years 200 and 500 students respectively were enrolled. For effective and better management and development of the school the Association formed a separate trust with the name of "Versova Education Trust" and got it duly registered under the BPT Act in 1963. In the initial years the members of VWA actively worked for the development and expansion of the school. Not to rest on its laurels the Association continued to conduct educational, medical and sports activities for the community. Having set up the school for the welfare of the children of the locality, it concentrated on helping the underprivileged/backward class students by conducting classes for them, distributing free exercise/notebooks among them, conducting free health checkups and also sports activities for them. The later years the Association remain focused on improving the educational and hygienic conditions of the students and families who hail from the underprivileged/ economically backward classes. The VWA has a diversified vision and takes other opportunities of charity too.
