ERGO – Learning for Life

The 150th Public Primary School of Athens is one of many schools that educates 85% refugee and migrant students. Community integration has never been accomplished having as an impact the transformation of the beauty of diversity to become an obstacle in communication in the classroom, instead of a sharing and learning tool. Children’s post traumatic experiences causes emotional and social difficulties that need instant care and attention by their teachers and families. Teachers are not having the means to accomplish this critical goal, parents are feeling unsupported and they all crying for help.

ERGO, as an organization sensitized to children rights, is in constant dialogue with the school community in order to assess the needs of the whole children’s supporting system. We have already implemented a number of short-termed voluntary psycho-social interventions to empower students and their families.According to their teachers, the impact is valuable and sustainable.

“ERGO – Learning for Life” is a non-profit organization which relies upon your donations. Our team makes a concerted effort to strengthen psycho-social skills of children, adolescents and young adults, as well as to empower parents and professionals working with them, by building a supporting system. ERGO’s philosophy is that every child’s and young person’s lifetime journey is entitled to maximum mental well-being, optimal outlooks and personal development.

Your support is crucial to our mission to “adopt” and empower in long-term the 150th Public Primary School of Athens by implementing a psycho-social training program, as described below. Our vision is this empowering program to be offered in the future in schools with similar profile and needs all over Greece.

During six (6) months we will provide:

  • Student’s Empowerment: Psycho-social interventions to students regarding their emotional development, psychological resilience on trauma,team-building skills, empathy on cultural diversity and social integration (2 hours per week in each class).
  • Parent’s Awareness & Training:Parents’ psychoeducational groups focusing on building and maintaining healthy relationships with their children, participating in school and community in favor of children well-being (one parent group for each class, every 15 days, with a2 hours duration)
  • Teachers’ Supervision & Training: Supervision and Training offered both in group and individual level, according to the needs of professionals (5 hours per week)

In order to cover the expenses for the implementation of the program as well as its impact assessment,we need 14.500 euros.

MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY is a fact! In Greece, in Europe, in all over the world.

In the Greek multicultural society, nowadays, traumatized children are isolated from quality health care and education.

However, we all believe that every child in our society has the right of a fulfilling life.As adults we have the obligation to offer to every child a healthy community to grow up in,a brighter present and a prosperous future.

Ergo, as a scientific organization has the knowledge to make that happen!

By offering us the means, we can transform this knowledge into ACTION!

Thank you in advance for sharing our vision for a better society, for a better life!
