Earlier this winter, Chelsea was diagnosed through a routine mammogram with stage 2 breast cancer (get your mamms in a timely fashion, ladies!!). She has an amazing medical team supporting her, and while it was lucky that the cancer was caught early, she still started to undergo a regimen of chemo that began before the holidays (Thanks a LOT, cancer, you flippin’ jerk!). Her prognosis is really positive and for that we are forever grateful.

She’ll be continuing chemo and undergoing major surgery in the next 3-6 months – and as we’re sure some of you unfortunately already know, no cancer journey is ever linear: The amount of additional treatments and the crazy, unexpected medical costs that come with a big diagnosis like this are bewildering, and impossible to prepare for unless you have a dragon-hoard of gold tucked away under your floorboards! It sucks and is expensive to be sick in America these days, especially as a freelancer. Those of you in the industry can attest that the unpredictable income that accompanies contract-to-contract work makes it incredibly difficult to plan for health care. So while Chels and her fiancé Dan are doing their very best to tackle this unexpected health emergency on their own, we want to help ease this substantial burden and alleviate any potential financial stress through this GoFundMe so that Chels can instead keep her focus on her health and recovery.
