Help us save our home

Hello and thank you for taking the time to view my campaign. I hope you’ll consider helping me and my family save our home.

My name is Monica Mhangwana. I am a 26 year-old singer; and I live with my parents and younger brother and my golden retriever.

Our home situation changed when my father lost his job. This happened while my brother and I were pursuing our tertiary studies. Studies we could not complete as a result.

Since leaving tertiary, my brother and I have tried searching for jobs to no avail, we started a company but it is still in the early stages and it’s not yet paying us salaries. Being creatives in the current global pandemic made matters even more challenging, and we weren’t able to find work.

My mother is a nurse and has been for over 30 years; luckily she still has her job; however it has been a struggle to meet the expenses on a nurse’s salary. Regardless of my father’s knowledge and experience, he is near retirement age and people are reluctant to hire at that age. So it’s harder for my dad to find work. After being out of work for two years, he finally got into real estate, which is commission based work. He only gets an income after a sale of a house. Real estate has its own challenges now, due to the pandemic.

We’ve sold some of our possessions to make ends meet; even now we are trying to sell our only car.

Without the extra income, our expenses quickly caught up with us.

We’ve spent the past month without electricity, and now we face the danger of losing our home itself.

The total amount that we owe on our house in its’ entirety is R514 195,77, but in order to keep our home the bank demands that we pay the outstanding amount of R108 246.00 or they will take us to court and auction away our home in December. Rendering us homeless.

I’ve nowhere else to turn. So I turn to you.

Having enough students will help us survive our monthly instalments till we finish paying up the house.

My father did four oil paintings called the BRIGHT AFRICA Series, depicting African cities rising out of the darkness of the night into a brighter Africa. Each painting will be shipped to the first four people who each choose the reward. Cities include Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria and Lagos. You are welcome to select more than one.
