Campaign Story
My name is Walter Mohale and I am a young African man. I bought a farm for US$1.3 million on bank loan, so that black people own and work the land to produce food. Then a large hail storm damaged the whole crop. Short-term crops are not insured in South Africa. Now I stand to lose the land if I cannot raise US$1million to settle the bank. Please help me raise this amount. The storm wiped us out. The weather pattern seems to have changed with global warming.
Please help us save the farm. When this farm is saved, a number of families will benefit from it in terms of employment creation, food production and orderly transfer of land to black people.
This will also assist me not to lose this farm as it was acquired through a loan which needs to be paid back every month. However, without the farm making profits, it is not possible to meet the financial obligations. The farm is Droogeloope in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, measuring 496 hectares. It is for crops and animals. I have the skills to run the farm, gained from practical training on commercial farms. An event of extreme weather has threatened to wipe that. I have a letter from the Department of Agriculture to assist but eventually they said they had no money. Reminder letters to the Minister, the Provincial and District departments of agriculture have gone cold. The promise is now dead. Iām leasing a portion of the farm for grazing for a small income. Please help
