My sister was diagnosed with communicating hydrocephalus last December 2018, then at the same month she had VP Shunt.
May 17, 209 - she was diagnosed with gallstones, they perform mini laparoscopic to her and remove her gallbladder.
June 20, 2019 - she was diagnosed with Arnold Chiari Malformation.
June 24, 2019 - chiari decompression surgery was done.
July 06, 2019 - she was discharged at the hospital. The wound of the surgery was healed on the outer.
July 17, 2019 - we brought her at ER because the wound of the surgery at the back of her head was swollen to the point that is has a bulge and have some fuss discharge.
- she had lumbar drain insertion
- bulge on the operation wound stop but fuss / fluid on her head is still coming out until now.
- they put lumbar drain so that it will help to eliminate the excess fluid but lumbar drain can last only for 7days.
Doctors told us that the infection was already on the on CSF and they had remove the old shunt because it is also infected and not working anymore after that they will put an external tube on my sisters head so that the meds will directly go to the fluids on her brain at the same time they can also extract the excess fluid. Then if the infection was treated they're planing to replace it with a new shunt on the other side of her head.
July 24, 2019
- schedule of her operation for removal of old shunt and lumbar drain then putting EDV on her head.
Let's us all pray for my sisters operation and recovery. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Amen po!
Thank you po sa mga tulong at dasal ninyo 😭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
