The story

We were driving from the town of Livadi, Greece toward Napflio on an isolated high-speed road when these two puppies appeared out of nowhere. They were running all over the place and seemed confused. On one side was a vertical cliff going down to the sea, and on the other a wall going up a couple of hundred meters – nothing in either direction for several kilometres, so it was quite obvious they had been dumped.

We parked the car a little further up at the road and went back to try and get them. It was a pretty dangerous spot with the cliff and cars speeding through, but they seemed quite scared and didn't trust us. They hid in a bush right on the edge of the cliff and wouldn't get close, so we couldn't pick them up. We took our dog from the car and used her as a 'bait' to see if the puppies would trust her more than they trusted us, which thankfully worked! So we were able to pick them up and drive up for another hour to the nearest vet.

They were scared to death and just hid laying their face under each other's fur until we got to the vet, who confirmed they are about 3 months old, very underweight, skinny and malnourished and absolutely INFESTED with internal worms and fleas.

We have started treating them against fleas and have currently brought them back home with us – and our other 3 rescue cats, 1 rescue dog and another kitty we just rescued 2 months ago and is waiting for adoption πŸ˜‚ we hope to bring them both to health and give them for adoption 😊

🐾 Our rescues until now

I guess you could say we are serial rescuers πŸ˜‚

Between 2019, 2020 and 2021 we have spent most of our time between Greece, Spain and Portugal, where there is an abundance of stray cats and dogs. Thanks to our incredible community we were able to:

πŸ‘‰πŸ» spay and neuter two stray cat colonies in a remote area of Greece

πŸ‘‰πŸ» rescue a semi-blind FIV+ cat that had been shot, run over, and was living out of the bins of a supermarket, treat him 3 months and rehome him from Greece to Ireland on an epic 5-day travelling via land quest

πŸ‘‰πŸ» rescue an abandoned hunting pup and rehome him from Greece to Paris

πŸ‘‰πŸ» rescue a 2-month kitten on the verge of dying (foster fail #1)

πŸ‘‰πŸ» take a 2-month kitten from the streets (foster fail #2)

πŸ‘‰πŸ» rescue an abandoned Shorkie pup (foster fail #3) – watch the story on TheDodo

πŸ‘‰πŸ» rescue two Portuguese kittens, who almost died from parvo and survived by a miracle, and rehome them to Spain

πŸ‘‰πŸ»rescue a near-death kitten, who was so full of infections that fur wouldn't grow on his skin, in Greece – he's currently being adopted and rehomed to the UK

...We're now hoping to help these two puppies become healthy and find a lovely home.
