Thanks for visiting our campaign page. Baby Chimamanda Margaret is 3 months old,

Hear what the Mum has to say :

" Its very painful watching our daughter die slowly before our very eyes, while we do nothing to help, because we don't have the required amount of money to pay her bills and transfer her to the hospital where she will be treated.

She has a complete right lungs collapse and lung parenchymal destruction, and an abnormal shift of the heart and some internal organs to the right, this has affected her respiration and blood circulation. She has been having repeated cough since the illness started, she is in severe pains and continously crying.
Currently, she is admitted at FMC, but due to how complex her condition is and unavailability of some of the machines needed, there is urgent need to transfer her to OUR LADY'S CHILDREN HOSPITAL, CRUMLIN in Ireland for futher treatment.

Treatment is needed to restore and expand the lungs like it was before and then to shift the heart and the other affected organs back to their normal possition.

An estimate of about $50000 has been made for her treatment both for an air ambulance (because she is oxygen dependent and for part of her treatment)

The target may seem like a long shot. But if everyone who see's this post gives whatever they are comfortable with giving from their heart and repost/share this post with everyone they know, I am certain that we will get there eventually. "
I decided to create this campaign in order to help this innocent helpless baby live I hope you 3ill be motivated to help too.

Baby Chimamanda before the illness started

Mother delivered her at a Gestational age of 29 weeks. She stayed in New Born Special Care Unit for one moth before being discharged to go home with her mum.

She stayed for two months at home with us, within this period Baby Chimamanda was very healthy and was adding weight on a daily basis.

By her third month of life she started having cough, the next day as i fed her with her milk mixed with 2mls of cord liver oil, she started coughing again and most likely aspirated on her feed.

In the evening they noticed baby was getting breathless, the next day she was taken to Living Word Hospital . She was admitted there for about a week, where she was continuously on oxygen and medications.

After about one week of stay in living word hospital, her condition was not improving, due to that she was referred to Federal Medical Centre for further management.

By this time her respiratory distress was so much that she cant stay off oxygen for a few minutes, she is still oxygen dependent!!!

When she got to Federal Medical Centre, after about 3 days she had a chest x-ray which according to the doctors showed a tension pneumothorax on the left lungs, and a lung collapse on the right lungs.

First Chest X-Ray taken on 26th October , 2017

A needle was put to release the trapped air, after about 5 minutes baby had cardiac arrest, she was resuscitated and then transferred to Intensive Care Unit

The next day, a second chest X-Ray was taken on 27th October, 2017

She stayed in the Intensive Care Unit for about 4 days, and was later transferred to children's ward.

After a series of investigations and another x-ray, it was discovered that the right lungs went on to get completely collapse.

Third chest X-Ray taken on 7th November, 2017.

After being reviewed by different doctors, she has been referred out of Federal Medical Centre, for a more advanced management. Mainly due to lack of some equipments and machines that are needed to manage her condition due to how complex it is. But still currently in FMC , due to financial constraints.

After a series of enquiries OUR LADY"S CHILDREN HOSPITAL, CRUMLIN is one of the few places where she can receive her required treatments.

We are calling on Men and Women of good will to please help them raise this money , to save the life of Baby Chimamanda Margaret Mgbemena. No amount is too small and no amount is too
