HELP US PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT

Over the years, effective waste management has been a major bottleneck for our community (Abomey-Calavi/Bénin). Millions of US dollars are committed every year for waste management but the problem of indiscriminate disposal of waste still hangs on the neck of our government. This project is aiming at finding a lasting solution to this waste management in Agori-Plateau an area of the community of over 1000 households estimated to 11243 people.   COST: $20.833   OBJECTIVES   EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF SOLID WASTE IN OUR AREA   REDUCTION AND POSSIBLE OUTBREAK OF FILT RELATED DISEASES   CUTTING DOWN LOCAL GORVENMENT EXPENDITURE ON SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT   CREATE EMPLOYMENT FOR RECYCLING ENTREPRENUERS     Disposal of solid waste from the houses is a major problem facing the community. It was observed that most of the community disposes off the waste every evening at unapproved refuse dump. Some, according to our observation also deposit waste in the drains and the immediate surroundings. At the end of the feasibility studies, the team came out with the following report: Primary collection: The team has decided to adopt curb stone collection where dust bins would be designed and distributed, each household would place their bins along the road for collection. It also decided to separate the waste. Plastic and polythene, metal and paper will be sold to recycling entrepreneur to be recycled into a useful product. Garbage which consists of leftovers, leaves etc, will be sent to the landfill site. Blue, black, yellow and green bins will accommodate garbage, plastic and Polythene, metal and paper waste respectively. Secondary collection and collection methods: Compactor trucks with specific volumes would be assigned to collect and convey the solid waste to the land fill site. All this was done taking into consideration the volume of garbage, metal waste, paper waste, plastic and polythene waste generated domestically, industrially as well as institutionally. Also, taken into consideration the population forecast obtained byforecasting the current population based on the data obtained from the Statistical service. MARKETABILITY  GARBAGE FOR MANURE PLASTIC, METAL AND PAPER WASTES FOR RECYCLING LEACHATE FROM GABAGE FOR BIOGAS PRODUCTION   CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION We entreat everyone to contribute to the effective implementation of the project to meet the demands of our area by donating something from the bottom of your heart, within your possibility.
