TLDR; Our Mama Lisa (60yo retiree) stayed 19 days in ICU and already recovering in a regular room. The problem is we don't have money to pay her bills upon discharge. My sister (28yo) and I (24yo) already exhausted our savings in the duration of the hospitalization. Our unpaid bill is 700k PHP (14.5k USD). We need every bit of help we can get. If someone could loan us, my sister and I promise to work hard to pay for it. Our combined MONTHLY income isn't enough for a DAY in the ICU :(
Me (24yo), my sister (28yo), and my nephew (7yo) are humbly asking for any amount of financial help from you. My mom (60yo retiree) only got us 3, my father passed last 2012. We can't imagine continuing our lives without her. She's our super mom, she supported us, became our pillar all throughout these years.
Me and my sister are online workers. Im a freelance graphic designer while my sister is a virtual assistant to a US based business.
Friday, Jan 22, my sister who has been living with our mom said that our mom keeps on insisting she wants to pee but just cant – nothing comes out. She collapsed.
We had to rush our Mama Lisa to the nearest hospital since unresponding, half eyes open, mouth open. We got to the nearest hospital which is a government hospital. They did some tests and still couldn't find out whats causing her collapse. We had to move her to a bigger facility who can conduct bigger test and has equipments for whatever this could be.
She was recommended for dialysis but had trouble breathing during the process so they had to intubate her. She's now in the ICU and still unstable.
We have some money saved up but our hospitals bills are quickly catching up were easily getting billed 100-150k everyday including the emergency bills, tests, and medications.
My mom's a retiree with HMO plan but we found out yesterday that her Health card expired just last Dec 31, 2020 and she wasnt able to work the renewals this early January.
If we were able to get any donations here, we'll surely update this with our running bill and receipts. We're only about to start our 3rd day and our bill is already around 400k
Update 01/24 6:50pm: Mama Lisa is recommended for surgery to check her intestines because it might have abrasions (thats causing this) we will be needing at least another 400k for this surgery to happen. We really need all the support we can get.
Update 01/26 5:51pm: Our hearts are full from everyone's prayer and efforts. Mama Lisa's operation was successful. They found that some parts of her large intestines are sticking up, a part of small intestine lining is thickening. They also found some adhesions that they repaired which is probably also a reason for her recurring gastritis.
Update 02/09 1:44pm: Mama Lisa's getting better hopefully get her ventilator removed within the next few days but she is still currently in the ICU. She's been in the ICU for 19 days already and our bill is really big. We've exhausted our savings already to the point that we only now have enough money for our everyday food. Her everyday bill is averaging (2k USD), We really need help for the next few days for her medicines. The company she retired from can only cover her for (1100 USD) only for the entire hospitalization.
Update 02/15 12:49PM: Mama Lisa's already in a regular room. Our unpaid running bill is almost 1.1 million pesos (22k) the hospital is asking us to pay partial around 50-75% of our total bill. What we already paid is below the 50% mark. We're humbly asking for anyone's financial support. She's given new and higher level antibiotics that's charging us at least 50k php (1000USD) a day. They are asking us to pay the partial by tomorrow noon. My sister and I really don't know what to do anymore
Update 02/19 12:52PM: Our Mama Lisa is almost completely better. She can eat, talk, move by herself. Needs assistance in standing and walking, but the rest is like how she was before. Our only problem now is she is ready for discharge after her antibiotic session (3 days left) but my sister and I honestly don't have any money left and our mom still don't know. We don't want her to worry with the burden of looking money to get her out of the hospital. We tried reaching out to PCSO (they only accept online application for assistance) but their website portal is very hard to access. Their daily quota runs out in less than 1 minute. I tried to get in every single day but no luck.
